If I could give ZERO stars to this agency, I would. We had a policy for less the 30 days and it was one issue after another. They wanted our trees cut back, which admittedly needed to be done. We had them cut back from the roof line 15 feet, 5 more than the industry standard of 10 feet. We are not in a heavily wooded area or region, but we are in a much older neighborhood with very mature and numbered (by the city) oak trees. Wellington insisted the 15 feet was not enough even when being told to prune back any more would kill them and need special approval from our city. This was still not enough. We sought other options. We found a much better and more affordable option and canceled our policy immediately. For our less than 30 days of coverage, we were charged almost $1200. This is OUTRAGEOUS and more than half our new (and significantly better) policy premium. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AGENCY TO ANYONE.Wellington Insurance Group

Tree branches that overhang a roof create an increased risk of loss to the property. The insurance industry as a whole is placing more scrutiny on this exposure, which ultimately impacts the affordability of insurance premiums. We absolutely understand your desire to limit the removal of overhanging branches, and other insurance providers may take different views as to the level of overhang that is acceptable. However, the amount of coverage you purchase from those providers may be impacted as a result. Ultimately, the guidelines to which we adhere are designed to increase the insurability of your home, which also means lowering the unnecessary risk of loss to your home. While we cannot disclose details of your transaction in this public forum, we invite you to contact us to discuss the correct premium charged on your policy for the period it was in force.Review fromDaniel G

This company is a complete scam. I had my roof damaged in a hurricane and after I got it fixed they kept my depreciated value check. I ended up having to pay way more than my deductible.Wellington Insurance Group

Every claimant is entitled to the full value of damages covered under the policy. Sometimes an adjuster will value damages in an amount higher than what the claimant actually pays to repair the damage. The claimant is not entitled, however, to recover that excess amount; only the actual amount spent is recoverable. If the amount you paid for covered hurricane damages in excess of your deductible was not reimbursed, then please contact our ************* Unit or your assigned adjuster to ensure you receive all amounts due under the policy. We are here to assist you every step of the claim process.Review fromWeldon B

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I found black mold in a closet so I immediately called and filed a claim. I took off work when they sent American Leak Detection out so I could be present and ask questions if needed. The plumber told me out of his mouth that the base of the tub in my guest bathroom was leaking from the base and could not be repaired, he said it needed to be completely replaced. The insurance company then sent out an adjuster to take pictures. Almost 2 weeks letter, I received a call from the Claim Examiner telling me they couldn't extend coverage because based on the pictures they took, they believe I knew I had a leak and didn't do anything to protect my home. He tried to tell me that the grout had cracks in it and that was the reason for the water leak and I failed to fix it but the plumber told me something completely different. I tried to explain to him that I would have no idea about a leak behind the wall hence the reason I called and filed a claim when I saw mold. I asked him if I could have a copy of the plumbers report, he told me no and that I needed to look at the report they compiled (which could be fudged with ANY thing they wanted to put in it). He was EXTREMELY rude to me so I asked him if that's how they treat all people. I asked him if I could appeal and his exact words were, "You can try but appealing isn't going to make me extend coverage!". I then asked him if I could speak to his Manager, he said he'd have them call me. I waited a week and I didn't hear from anyone. I had to call back and request his managers info. I called the manager and sent him an email. The manager called me back and apologized, said he would look into it and call me back. He finally called me back and said he has to agree with the claim examiner then tried to tell me the plumber didn't say anything about the tub being faulty which wasn't true. He said he'd call me back and I've not heard anything from them since. They pretty much ghosted me.Wellington Insurance Group

We understand your disappointment with the claim decision. However, the insurance policies on claims administered by Wellington are what's called "named peril" policies. Meaning, if damaged is caused by a "peril" listed in the policy (such as wind, hail, theft, etc.), then it is covered under the policy. It seems the cause for the damage that is the subject of your claim was not a "named peril", and mold is generally excluded by all policies in *****.Review fromCarlos G

1 starI am writing to express my absolute dissatisfaction with this insurance company's incompetence. From my recent ordeal, it is ******* clear that your teams are oblivious to what running an insurance company entails.Several months ago, I filed a claim for water leakage into my roofa problem that occurred after a grueling rainstorm. To assess the situation, your inspectors graced me with their presence a whopping three times. They took some snapshots and concluded the water was seeping in from the edges of the turbines.Following all those inspections and presumed expertise, guess what happened? Absolutely nothing! No solution, no claims, no service. Beyond the inconvenience and frustration, I found myself forced to hire a roofer to fix my roof. Yes, it was all at my expense because your company, for reasons best known to you, opted to cover nothing.Having dealt with a fair range of insurance companies over the years, I must categorically state that this service ranks as the worst. Your failure to uphold the standard basic services expected of an insurance company is staggering.Review fromMariano M

Worst service ever! Unfortunately, Ive had this company for years. Filed my first claim ever and they sat on it. After a month I had to call (and got the run around) before they made head way on the claim. Of course, they valued damages just below my deductible amount and refused to pay out on the claim. But here it is 2 months later and I still dont have any documentation at all. *** asked multiple times for a copy of the inspection report and all docs related to the claim and the decision. And again Nothing. Cant get anyone on the phone as usual and no one returns calls. Do not choose this company when considering protecting your home.Wellington Insurance Group

Claim handling timelines can be affected by a number of variables, including availability of the homeowner for an inspector to see the damaged property, subsequent investigations concerning damaged property (for example, contents research), and additional time for specialists (such as engineers that *** be recommended after a property inspection). While we are disappointed to hear of your frustration, to the extent we can provide context for your claim investigation, we are more than willing to do so. Thank you for being a long standing customer, and we trust our years of service encourage you to continue this relationship.Review fromMike M

This has to be the worst insurance company ever. I started my claim in March and they just finish paying my claim end of October. The claim started well but after the adjuster left it was really bad. You could not get a hold of anyone, emails were never responded to. You had to basically to email them or call them daily and hope to get some kind of answer from someone. Everytime I called it was on someone's desk waiting for approval. How many approvals does it need to get check sent out. 7 months later after claim was paid, guess what the dropped me but I was dropping then anyways after this fiasco. STAY AWAY FROM WELLINGTON!!!Wellington Insurance Group

The timeline for adjusting a claim can vary depending on the information available, complexity of the damages, and the period it takes for repairs to be completed and verified. We understand after reviewing your May claim that the adjustment occurred in two parts: (1) the initial actual cash value settlement; and (2) after repairs were made, the difference between amounts incurred and paid less deductible. This two step process is outlined in your policy. Each settlement ensured you received all amounts owed without any further concerns. We hope you can appreciate the claims process and consider us again in the future. Thank you for being a valued customer.Review fromRon A

Do not use this company for mortgage insurance needs. It has been a nightmare. In November we had a leak in kitchen. They fought us the whole way. 9 months later. We finally closed the case. We are still waiting on loss of food. Not having a kitchen for 4 months. We never got a response. They never would answer the phones. It was a joke. Cabinets had to be torn out. Insurance only would cover bottom cabinets. So it would be ridiculous to have 2 different cabinets. They would never match. Be aware on what your policy covers. They told me several things that was a lie. On the food and having no kitchen, I had to pull up the policy to show them. That insurance would cover the food. They didn't tell me that i needed copies of every reciept. In the end I am still waiting and they are not accepting some because they are light. Still waiting and it shouldn;t take this long. We paid so much out of pocket. Still waiting. We are filing a complaint with the state. Never thought it would be so horrible. Especially on all we had to go thru..Wellington Insurance Group

Since we are unable to provide insight for the actions of the claims investigation in this response without additional claim information, we offer our sympathy for any confusion during the claims process. Adjusting claims can be a long process as customers make repairs or replace items over extended periods of time. Please do not hesitate to continue to reach out with any further questions or concerns.
