    Followed directions on Repair page, and paid the requested $84.95 for scanner repair and shipping. Mailed 6-28-23. Checked status page where it showed a shipping date of 7-26-23. After weeks of waiting, I called to find out I OWED THEM $10 more... and no one, despite having my email and phone number, bothered to contact me. I paid on 8-16-23, and since then repeated calls to their status line yields a simple, "well, we can't figure out what the warehouse is doing", and email to their customer support did not get a response. Poorly, poorly handled. Filed a complaint with ***** ************************ Case ****

    Really fast support that did not make me wait. An English speaking American answered the phone and was very knowledgeable about the product and my questions. Will buy from again.

    I purchased directly from Uniden through their website. The purchase was made after hours on a Thursday evening and the process was quick and easy. However, right after submitting the order, I realized I used the wrong ship to address. Because it was after hours, I had to notify via email to customer service of my mistake. Uniden processed my email request first thing that morning and was able to correct the ship to address before it left Fed Ex. Kudos to the team that pulled the change off and I received my order on Monday morning. Thank you.

    While the UNIDEN R3 may be a good radar detector, for me, quality is the worst. I bought a UNIDEN R3 from Best Buy on 25 SEP 2021 and had to send it in for repair around 25 APR 2022. The corrective action was to replace the *** board. Fast forward to mid-September 2022 and the *** feature had failed again. I called UNIDEN for repair and received an email with a ***** label on 19 SEP 2022 but was not able to send it in for repair immediately so UNIDEN did not receive the radar detector until October which was past the one year original warranty term and the 90 day repair warranty. When a customer calls about a repair the agent on the other end can't truly help and only lets the repair center know about the call. Then the repair center might respond ***** hours later. That's weak. Anyway, after two or so months I call and the agent takes my information and I wait some more. Nothing. Now it's the holidays and I know people are busy. I call again after the new year and finally receive an email on Jan 10 stating I owe UNIDEN $87 for the repair. Why do I owe for something that apparently wasn't repaired right the first time? Why do I owe when the unit was purchased less than a year before? My theory is that UNIDEN is using substandard parts or the repair technicians are not trained well. UNIDEN proceeded to send me three emails stating I owed the money so I finally called and talked to an agent. I told her that I shouldn't have to pay anything, but I'd consider paying half because of the shipping fees and I wanted my radar detector back. She stated that the repair center would reach out to me in ***** hours. After ten or so days I called again and was passed off to a supervisor named ******. Well ******* and I guess UNIDEN, are not customer service oriented and stated that I would not get my radar detector back unless I paid the $87. The only problem I have with my 8 year old ****** Passport *** is a dim LCD screen and false alerts to vehicles with blind spot monitoring.

    Uniden understands the customers frustration with the R3 and we apologize for the situation.



    Uniden offers a 12-month warranty for you to use from the date of purchase. Our customers are more than welcome to send the unit in for a repair and our technicians will look at the problem, fix the issue and if a firmware has not been updated Uniden will complete this as well. After you receive the device back and it still is not working, we ask you to please send it back because the technician is able to look at his notes and see what was completed in the first repair. It is very unusual for someone to send in a repair, and it is sent back to the consumer with the same problem. Uniden technicians will check and double check the device before we send the unit back to the consumer to assure it is in working condition.



    According to the complaint there was time that laps and the device became out of warranty. Uniden is not able to extend the warranty as it clearly states this in the manual as well as online at www.uniden.com/customer service/warranty/repair. The cost of the repair is not negotiable because of the cost of shipping. Uniden doesn't refund shipping as well as negotiate the cost of the repair after the warranty has expired.
