      Hi, I was banned from hinge on November 11th, 2024. I tried to access the app but I couldn't as the message said i was banned. I tried to appeal with hinge and I got the response, "Our team has reviewed your appeal request and confirmed that you are in violation of our Terms of Service and our Community Guidelines. Therefore your account will remain banned. This decision is informed and final and subsequent appeals will not be considered." I'm uncertain about the specific reasons for my removal and which community guidelines I may have unknowingly violated. It seems that the actions taken against my account did not provide an opportunity for me to defend myself or gain insights into any potential mistakes. I kindly request a reconsideration of my removal, with the hope of being reinstated on the platform. I genuinely enjoyed using Hinge to connect with new people and explore meaningful connections, and I would appreciate the opportunity to continue doing so. Thank you for your time and consideration.

      After carefully reviewing the Terms of Use you referenced, I want to reiterate that I genuinely do not believe I violated any of Hinges policies. If I did act in a way that unintentionally went against the guidelines, I assure you it was completely inadvertent. I would never knowingly misuse the platform, and I deeply regret if any of my actions were perceived that way.
      I truly enjoyed using Hinge and appreciated the opportunity it provided to connect meaningfully with others and I was fortunate to have made some great connections through the app. Thats why Im respectfully asking for a second chance.       My account on both ******************** and Tinder were terminated without explanation beyond a generic claim of violating the Terms of Service. Appeals were again rejected on both platforms without sufficient explanation. I aspire to be a respectful and active user of ********************. Tinder, I dont use actively. Regarding Hinge, I have successfully found lasting relationships and really appreciate the service for the connections it enables. I am, however, disappointed at the lack of explanation for my removal. I sincerely hope it was not my messaging or how I conducted myself that caused my removal. Id sincerely regret offending anyone using the platform.Moving forward, I can assure the *********** that I will adhere strictly to the community guidelines, particularly sections outlining the intentionality behind the app: finding meaningful relationships.This app is one of a kind and I sincerely hope I can rejoin!       Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, it does not resolve my concern.

      I understand that user unmatching does not violate the Terms of Use, and I am not suggesting otherwise. However, my account was banned without a clear explanation, and I have strong reason to believe this was the result of an automated moderation system misinterpreting my behavior, not a direct violation of your policies.

      To provide context:

      I had been off Hinge for nearly a year before recently reinstalling it.
      Since returning, I have only gone on one in-person date, which went well. This is something I can support with text message receipts if needed.
      I have engaged respectfully with all matches and have not received any indication of inappropriate conduct.

      It appears that my account may have been caught in an overly aggressive automated flagging system based on removal patterns or other signals that do not reflect my actual behavior.

      I respectfully request a manual review by the Trust & Safety team. As a real user with a history of positive engagement, I believe this ban was issued in error and would appreciate a fair reassessment.

      Hi, I set up a dating profile with Hinge. Before I even used the application or interacted with any other users they shut down my account with no notice. It seems like discrimination of some sort. There is no possible way I could have not been compliant, as I did not even begin using the application and my profile was banned. This can all be verified, as youll see the time from when my profile was fully uploaded to when the ban happened it was within an hour or so, with no activity on the application. Getting reinstated directly with hinge is quite challenging and that is why I am taking this route. Please have them reinstate my account. This is very important to me.

      I am rejecting this response because: I got the ban seemingly for no reason. As mentioned I never even interacted with other users of the app, and I was immdeifately banned. It was less than an hour after completing my profile. There was nothing out of the ordianry, out of the terms, or derogatory on my profile. 

      The reason I am rejecting this resposne is because, I was not aware of the actual ramifications of a hinge ban, and when I clicked "appeal" on the app I did not put in a proper response. I left a lackluster one line response. I wasnt even aware of how the app functioned and had no clue what was even going on. 

      I would like to restart my appeal process, and have this expedited. This getting drawn out for a few weeks or even months is extremely unreasonable.

      I am rejecting this response because: I am not asking you to disclose additional information. I am asking for you to reset my appeal so I can redo the case with greater detail. Seemingly if I just email you guys it will not get linked to the current appeal case, nor will it be expedited. 

      Alternatively, if you can confirm that me emailing you guys will link the updated information I provide to my current appeal case, than I will do that, but based on information on the internet, emailing you guys is not the way to go about appealing a ban, hence my hesitation to just emailing you guys to reverse this ban. 

      Also, can you please confirm if you guys have received my current appeal and what the standard timeframe I should expect to hear back within is?

      Dear Better Business Bureau, I am writing to formally file a complaint against Hinge. I believe I was unfairly and unjustified banned from my account/the platform. I have been a committed and respectful user of ******************** for years, and paid for 6 months at a time for the premium Hinge X subscription, a clear indication of my serious intent to use the app in good faith and in accordance with its policies. I have never violated Hinge's Terms of Service, nor have I engaged in any behavior that would warrant disciplinary action. I have always treated others with kindness, respect, and the genuine intent of forming meaningful connections. All people whom I matched with and dated, I still know and would call a friend, even if it did not work out. To my great surprise, my account was banned without a clear explanation or any prior warning. For more information, at the time of my ban, I was not even matched with or talking to anyone at the time, I had no interactions with a match to even validate any type of behavior I'm told I did. At most, I would send a message to a potential match profile and see if they match with me and respond. If anyone responded saying they found a joke or something I said rude or of bad taste, I would respect that and apologise. Again, that is not the case, as I was not even matched with anyone at the time of the ban, except the woman I was currently seeing.The appeal process does not explain why you are banned, but they expect you to somehow appeal why they might be wrong without giving any context to appeal. This is very one-sided, as how can you defend yourself in an appeal without knowing the context of the possible issue?Later, they say a person reviewed your appeal in an email, and it is not automated, but multiple people were given the same email and the same exact response.I respectfully request that the BBB investigate this matter and communicate with Hinge on my behalf. I believe this may have been a misunderstanding, and I would truly appreciate the opportunity to share my experience.Hinge has been more than just a dating app for me its been the only platform where Ive genuinely felt a connection was possible. Unlike other apps Ive tried, Hinge stood out because it encouraged thoughtful conversations, meaningful profiles, and real connections. I do not know what I was removed for or what community guidelines I am supposed to have violated.       Im writing with deep frustration and sadness. My account was permanently banned under circumstances that I believe were the result of being hacked. I have been trying everything I can to reach out to the business to resolve the situation, but I havent received a fair opportunity to explain or recover access.This account means more to me than just a profile it represents years of connection, community, and identity.       I am rejecting this response because:   I am deeply disappointed by the businesss generic and impersonal reply. I believe I am being unfairly treated possibly discriminated against as I was never given a clear explanation or a chance to defend myself before being permanently banned.


      Ive been the victim of a hack, and my account was compromised without my knowledge. Instead of being offered help or understanding, I was shut out completely. This has taken a serious emotional toll on me. *** invested so much time, energy, and personal expression into this account only to be locked out permanently with no real communication or support.


      What hurts most is that Ive been trying in good faith to resolve this and was met with a copy-paste response. Im not just a number Im a real person who was hurt by this experience. Im simply asking for fairness, transparency, and a real review of my case.


      Please help me get a real answer, a fair investigation, and a chance at redemption. Im not trying to cause problems I just want my account back and to be treated like a human being.

The absence of a clear explanation prevents any meaningful opportunity to respond or clarify, which may be considered deceptive under NYC Admin. Code 20-700.
