Man are they bad. Decided to close down in Texas and good that they did. I sent my final payment and was told it did not go through and whoever I sent it to was fraudulent. I sent the ach to the same place I had sent it for the last YEAR. called my bank and was informed that they had already processed the funds. SCAMMED!!! By this company.

They offered reward points and I have reached 373 points over the years. They transferred my contract/service to another company without my consent. Now that I am not their customer anymore, I am not even allowed to redeem the points or to pay my last bill with the points. Energy Texas scams customers and falsely advertise/mislead customers. I canceled the energy provider that they switched me too also fearing that it will be another bad experience.

Horrible criminal abuse of my contract terms. Sold my 36-month contract that I entered into in good faith, 14 months into it. Sold it to **************, who are awful people that botched a buyout and account transfer of parents' energy contract a year earlier and disconnected them for non-payment after my parents had been paying their bills for several months. I wanted nothing to do with **************. But when I contacted Energy Texas to discuss my options since they obviously didn't want my business anymore, I was told flatly that I had no choice but to accept my transfer over to ************** or I could pay the $500 early termination fee. No discussion. "It was in my contract" that they could do this to me. In the end, I have paid the $500 ****** because it's better than the alternative of having my power shut off in mid-summer for no reason by **************.Do NOT do business with these people, Energy Texas. They will treat you like property and abuse your trust.

On 7 January 2024, I saw I was eligible for a $25 rewards card from "Energy Texas." They didn't honor their rewards program promise and send it to me.When I requested the rewards card on 7 January 2024, my on-line account showed that it was scheduled to pay out. Because I was coming to the end of my contract, I shopped around and found a better deal at Revolution Energy, so I requested a switch, scheduled for 20 January. I kept watching for the $20 rewards card, and when it didn't arrive, I contacted Energy Texas in April. I was told "Unfortunately, your account closed before the process could complete so the gift card was not issued."What? That wasn't in any of their information! That wasn't a condition of the rewards program!I contacted them again and pointed out that it was 13 days between the rewards request and the end of my contract. They replied, "The decision is final, the gift card will not be issued."

Their Rangler Reward system, which only lets you redeem one award per month, used to have ways to redeem up to 450 points at a time. They recently removed the large rewards and now the highest reward you can redeem is 100 points. I have 470 or so. Low and hold, I get a letter in the mail a few days ago saying that I'm being transferred to another provided who will not honor the Rangler Reward system.I emailed Energy Texas support and they said that I can only redeem one award per month, it's not possible to override this and I will lose my reward points once the transfer is completed. So, at most I can redeem 100 of my 470 points and the rest will be lost. That's $75 dollars of bill credit gone, through no fault of my own.Incredibly shady business practices.

This company scams you, offering you a great deal and then turns around and changes everything without your notification. I canceled them immediately after figuring that out. I paid them the last electric bill even though it was excessively high and did not have My deductions for my solar electricity production. They actually told me they forgot to put it in. I refused to pay the $400 cancelation fee and told them they should be paying me $400 for changing the contract without my consent. I think that this company is eligible for a class action lawsuit.

Good company until you have a problem. **************** is based in ********. *** based agents are contacted via eMail and they will either ignore those eMails, or you will get a terse reply from someone dismissing any issue. They do not honor the ****************** of their programs and insist that eMails they send clearly stating one thing, can actually mean something else.In my case, I redeemed rewards for a gift card. I received a confirmation eMail from them thanking me for my redemption . . . REDEEEMED . . . and that I will have the card in my hands within the next 2 to 4 weeks. When the card never showed up, I called/emailed (multiple times) and the latest is that any REDEMPTION will be voided if I switch providers within 60 days of making the request. Even if they confirmed the redemption. It's not a big deal, we're only talking a gift card here; but the dismissive nature of people supposedly in authority both in ******** and in *******, signals that this is not a company that is going to treat you well if a bigger issue appears. They have a "Howdy Partner" facade and a "Customer is Never Right" reality.

Updated post 5 Feb 24 Energytexas.com is not your best choice for energy! I reccomend choosing another company as they are deceitful and feel that saying sorry will fix everything without them actually doing anything.I subscribed to their power service in January 2023 with the solar add on. I asked if the solar plan changed could I get out of the contract without penalty and was told yes. Skeptical I took one year instead if three. Then in March the solar plan went from a one to one credits to Real time metering. Also they stated high pay back during surge and the capped it low enough to be almost worthless. These changes caused my bill to go fom $20 a month to $100-$150 a month. I called immediately in March when i received the bill to cancel and was told I would need to pay the 250 cancelation penalty. WHAT?A few months later when it came time to renew I was told I could have canceled without penalty until May 1 due the major change and was directed to a new statement online. Wait, What that's a contradiction to what i was told? Now when making my final payment I had saved up my rewards that they call stars and 150 stars allows you to recieve $50 off your bill. Well, I was told in the terms and agreement it states I am not allowed to use my rewards on my final bill, so the $50 credit will not apply and be lost.Beware of the terms and know this company isn't here for their customers, but only out to make as much money they possibly can.

I hate this company. We are retired on a fixed income. We keep thermostat *****. We are under blankets trying to keep warm. When we had the cold snap we used firewood and kept thermostat really low because we were afraid of the cost. We were gone out of town from the 25th late evening and back home January 3rd very late. I looked at their graph and we have different usage on days gone. How on earth!!!! We left one light on and none outside. Our bill is $506. Never in our life have we had one this high. Its outrageous. Do they actually come and read the meter? To get out of this company we have to pay a penalty of $400. We pay Energy Ogre a fee monthly to find us the best plan. Well they did a horrible job. Im so angry. I would have given them zero stars.

I unfortunately have had a rather uncomfortable time with them. I made a payment arrangement they never stated that I couldn't make the payment online. Cutoff was the 22nd and called Friday the 19th to ask if I could pay on the weekend. I had to go to work and didn't have time to go deposit funds in the bank. I was told they're closed on weekends but that I could pay online. I did and today the 22nd was disconnected. They received the payment but stated it had to be over the phone and they can't help me at all. I have to pay the remainder of the payment in full or I will not be reconnected. I now am stuck trying to maneuver funds around. If you make a payment arrangement you can not pay online at all. They don't count it as an arrangement payment when paid online. They should state that anytime anyone makes a payment arrangement but they don't.
