Over a year ago I signed up with Credit Associates so they could consolidate my debts and get them paid off. I was told they would negotiate with the credit card companies and I am to stop paying the monthly bills in order to establish there is a problem. They have been taking money out of my account monthly and my debts are not getting paid. I am now being sued by Discover and have to go to court because they failed to pay them. I had called them numerous times about getting this account settled and they were going to send it to an attorney, I was told they would take care of it and to send them the paperwork. I sent the paperwork and they did NOTHING! When I called after getting served legal paperwork to go to court, I was told I was on my own!!!! I was told they would pay them monthly until they were paid off in 48 months. They were to split the money and start paying them off. They have only started paying on 1 card and the other two have had NO payments made. I now have to go to court for non payment and I would have NEVER stopped paying my bills. They continually tell me that I need to give them more money. I have no idea what to do now that I am being sued over them not doing what they promised.Business Response

I have been trying to get a response via email from Credit Associates for the better part of the last two months. I am unable to contact during business hours due to the time difference and my own schedule, as I have requested and explained multiple times. I have serious questions that could potentially lead me to closing my account and requesting a refund due to inaction on the part of the company.Business Response

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CREDIT ASSOCIATES CALLING THEMSELVES A DEBT FORGIVENESS PROGRAM, STRUGGLING WITH CREDIT CARDS I CALLED THEM. THEY TOLD ME TO IMMEDIATELY STOP PAYING THE 4 CREDITORS THEY CHOSE THAT QUALIFIED FOR THE PROGRAM AND THE MONTHLY FEE WAS EXACTLY WHAT I OWED THE CREDITORS. MEANWHILE THE 4 ACCOUNTS ARE ALL DELINQUENT, AND WHEN I CONTACTED CREDIT ASSOCIATES THEY SAID THEY NEEDED MORE TIME, DURING THIS PERIOD MY CREDIT RATING WILL BE RUINED AFTER 30 DAYS OF NON PAYMENT ON EACH OF THE CARDS. ONE WEEK AFTER MY INITIAL CONTACT WITH THEM THEY DEDUCTED $284.43 FROM MY CHECKING ACCOUNT, AND THE BILLS WERE NOT PAID. I WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTER OFF DEALING WITH THE CREDIT CARD COMPANIES MYSELF, NOW WITH RISING FEES FROM THEIR PROGRAM AND MY CREDIT BEING RUINED. UPON READING THE DOCUMENTS THEY EMAILED ME THERE IS NOWHERE THAT I GAVE THEM AUTHORIZATION TO AUTOMATICALLY DEBIT MY BANK ACCOUNT. I changed my mind about this service because I do not want to default on my credit cards. They tried extremely hard using gaslighting sales tactics to try to change my mind to stay with them. In the end they told me they canceled my account but didn't actually cancel it.Business Response

On Sept 22 I called the company to get more information about the service they provide and see if it was a good fit for my situation. (They record all communications but sadly I didnt) I asked all the questions I needed and felt confident in the process but then the first issue happened . I didnt get the Welcome call that Monday as promised. That was when all the mistakes and changes to the contract were going to be changed. So I called and was directed to a customer service rep who told me that all the changes discused would be reflected on the customer portal within 24 hours.2 days pass and nothing has been updated. I call and speak to another rep who tells me something completely different. They wont change the information on the customer portal or give me a letter statement with the updated changes. But according to them they are aware of the cjange and I shouldnt worry about it. I am worroed anout it because I dont want to pay the 25% fee on the incorrect amount that they refuse to change on the customer portal. They still have my home address incorrect. This has made me very uncomfortable. I want to cancel the whole thing and start over. I want the correct information to be entered so I can accurately monitor my progress as I go for the next 48 months. I don't think that is to much to askBusiness Response

I got involved with Credit Associates because i thought they were going to help with debt relief but have made me more in debt. They have not solved any debts with creditors and have taken $1300 of my money, which i would like a full refund! It has been several months and still nothing. I just called my bank and paid a stop payment order against them so they would not take any more money of mine. I recently cancelled the credit associates program and was originally told I will not be receiving any of my money back.I found that totally weird as it my money not theirs so I called back couple days later and the lady assisting me had no clue where any of my funds were as my account said it didn't have any when in fact I have deposited 2,636.16 into the account since I started,I have screenshot stating so...now on 08/06/2022 I am unable to access my online account...I want my money returned minus the feesBusiness Response

I have attempted to contact this business since May 6th in order to terminate any debt relief services. They have not returned my email in the many attempts i have tried to reach out. I am a military service member stationed in Japan, which i explained in my email. They still have not attempted to contact me via email which i have asked several times, over five times All I want is for them to finish off the remaining accounts and not reach out to any creditors I cannot log in to my account for some reason and i have no access to any of my information I also cannot verify if this has already even been done because there is just no communication.Business Response

I began this program at the beginning of last year. They told me that they would negotiate my debts on my behalf. Fast forward a year later and I am trying extensively to cancel my account with them. I was told that in order to do that I had to pay an extra amount of money to bring my savings with them up to have enough to close an account and then my contract with them would be terminated. I did this, and after that the communication with the company became increasingly difficult, with being on hold for upwards of 40 minutes at a time to people telling me they would call me back and then never following through. Today when I called I was told that I owed them an extra 1000 dollars in service fees for an account that they had paid no more than 5 dollars a month for since December. I was NEVER told about this any of the other times I called to cancel my business with them. They are demanding this fee for making a 35 dollar difference in what I owe. I simply want to finish paying what I owe for the one card they DID manage to pay (an ****** credit card) and be done with them completely.Business Response
