In December I received court documents saying that I am being sued by ******** which Credit Associates told me could happen. I was advised to deposit $6,700 to settle the ******** account which we did. That money was supposed to go directly to the credit card company to close it out. For the last 3 months we keep going around in circles were I keep being told that the lump sum will be deposited to the law firm yet that still has not happened. I've spoken to several different Associates and none have been able to help me. I would like this resolved immediately. With some guarantee that it will go through tomorrow. I contact Credit Associates every week and they keep telling me that it'll happen in a week and then another week and then another week and it never does.Business Response

I signed up for Credit Associates 8/29/2022. I had $39,000 debt that I was drowning in. Credit Associates sent an advertisement in the mail and I reached out. I spoke to an agent named *****. ***** made me feel very comfortable and confident that Credit Associates could help me manage my debt. And they had. I have settled 3 accounts with them, one of them for $11,000 was with Discover and we had been issued a summons. I followed the instructions by Credit Associates and we have been able to come to an agreement out of court. The amount of the settlement and the fees they charged are almost as much as the debt itself, but it was the managment of these accounts I was searching for. So, I was fine with that. However, now I have another summons from **********. ******. I filed the paperwork responding to the summons, I emailed it and downloaded it into their DebtApp. I have not received any response of confirmation regarding this legal matter. I have called everyday. I have stood on hold for hours. Being disconnected every 20min by an automated system telling me to try again later. I start my calls when they open. And continue to call for two to three cycles after being disconnected. I have left messages on their DebtApp. I am given a message that they will contact me within 2-3 business days. I do not receive any contact. I have also sent emails. I do not understand why I am not receiving any communication from the agents at Credit Associates.Business Response

On 3/17/2025 I received an offer( by mail) to pay off an account that is also involved with credit associates. The letter in no way said anything about credit associates. I paid it that day and called credit assoc. to remove the account, the guy on the phone could not help me and said someone would call me back- which they did not do until that Friday(21st) - was at work could not answer. The 24th I called again to have said account removed and the lady I talked to refused. Today I finally got this account ************* the issue is I did not approve the settlement Ive been trying to get it removed since the 17th before they also paid them. They paid them ***** and refuse to get this money back and instead are charging me another 970 to be rid of them. They say they cannot get this money back yet once I paid on the 17th the account should be closed. I lost 1500 because I want to be debt free? I just want rid of them and they dont even have to get my money back, just adjust my bill to where I dont have to pay another ****** when Ive already paid ********* and total for four accounts I have with them is *********. ( counting their fees). Im a single parent and just want to be debt free and they are scamming me, I feel. They already took money from me in January without my consent. I emailed them and told them I would pay the full amount (at that time it was less)if they would push back the next draft date. No one called me and they sure took my money -leaving me .36 cents. They just keep raising the estimated amount it will take to pay off. I should not owe anything else to them . The only reason they finally removed my discover account is because I threatened legal counsel. They did not get my approval for this settlement nor did I consent to them paying anything to them which is why I started calling them the 17th.Business Response

My program with the debt relief associates says that I have met my obligations totaling the amount yet they continue to try and debit money from me. I have talked to an associate prior to wanting to settle the debts and they confirmed twice I no longer needed to deposit money. I want these payments stopped and the debts settled.Business Response

They sent me an unsolicited offer in the mail. When I called seeking information about who the company was, what the offer was, and what they would charge, the salesman accused me of interrogating him and refused to answer any questions. Im not sure if this is a scam or if this is just how they do business?Business Response

Before I enrolled with Credit Associates, my Fico credit score was 700, now it's in the toilet. No credit cards. Bank Account got overdrawn due to Credit Associates taking out an Unusual double payment. All I want now is all my money back now from Credit Associates has of mine that I've been paying them since last June of 2025. I did call them on the phone and told them that I want my account with them closed and all my money I paid back! That was yesterday I talked with them on the phone while I was at my bank trying to keep them from closing my overdrawn account. The person on the phone told me it would take 10 - 15 business days to get any funds back from the double payment. $300. and change.Business Response

I signed up for credit associates because of the information that I received via telephone from the *********** 3 months of paying $288, I can see now that I was scammed. The money I provided for the first credit card payoff isn't going to the balance of my credit card but is being dispersed for 6 months at 108 dollars a month. I want out and I have tried multiple times to cancel this program. I have called (no one ever answers the phone) and I have emailed multiple times as well. I have sent the cancelation paperwork and they are still taking money out of my bank account. I don't have access to my own checking account on their portal to cancel these payments. My bank account is being hijacked. I want this canceled and I want my money back.Business Response

I enrolled with credit associates in December of 2023. The total of my outstanding debt was roughly $24K across five accounts at the time. They handled my first account (~$3500) and it was fully settled and paid off by summer of 2024 - raising my confidence in the program. My second account, the largest of any (roughly $11K) reached settlement offer and is currently being paid off through the monthly deposits. In October, I was served regarding one of the other delinquent accounts (~$3,900). ********************** gave me legal advice to file a complaint disputed the amount owed, asking for evidence, as a tactic to stall and give their negotiators time to reach a settlement before the judicial process could play out and the lawsuit would be dismissed. In order to do this I was asked to nearly double my savings commitment, which I did as I wanted the lawsuit dismissed and my debt paid off faster. A month and a half passed, nothing happened regarding negotiation but credit associates did take the extra savings commitment to pay themselves out faster on the ~$11K account (in settlement), jumping from their $45/month success fee on the account to $350. I called and they apologized, citing a code error and that they would deposit they money back into my debt savings account and have their negotiation team expedite a settlement on the account I was being sued for and that a settlement and dismissal of case would happen within two weeks or I should call back. Nothing happened after two weeks.Since then, I have called eight times, been on hold for the duration of their system settings, and sent to voicemail. No responses or correspondence. We're now three months removed from when I was served. I have already paid legal fees and the court has set a hearing for February (the judicial process is playing out and credit associates has done none of what they said they would), so more legal fees are on my horizon and Credit Associates has yet to get back to me.Business Response

The debt settlement company, Credit Associates, LLC., does not follow through with assurances made to clients that their company will contact creditors in a timely manner in an effort to resolve consumer debit. I would request that the following complaint against ***************************, be submitted to your organization's records. In particular, I requested proof of contact from Credit Associates with Chase **** ******** (creditor). I signed a debt settlement representation agreement with Credit Associates 11 months ago. I was just informed by ******************* that Credit Associates has not yet contacted the above creditor during the whole of the preceding period. I consequently demanded Credit Associates provide me with any proof of contact that was made between Credit Associates and Chase **** ********. Credit Associates representatives have not yet provided requested proof of contact between Credit Associates LLC and *******************. I was informed that a representative from Credit Associates would call me back within ***** hours with an update concerning any subsequent attempts by Credit Associates to contact Chase **** ********. It has now been about a week and I have not yet been called nor contacted by a representative of Credit Associates, LLC. As a result of the negligence and incompetence practiced by Credit Associates, LLC., I am now facing legal action concerning the above delinquent debt. This state of affairs occurred because I followed the instructions delineated by representatives of Credit Associates, LLC., not to contact creditors. By following these express instructions I now find myself facing not only a precipitous lowering of my credit score but also legal action. I would recommend that Credit Associates, *************************************************, contact me directly with a resolution proof of having contacted Chase **** ******** or refund all fees that have been charged to my account.Business Response

We spoke to Mr. ******** and let him know we received an offer on the account at issue. Mr. ******** declined that offer and removed the account at issue from the program. Thank you.Customer Answer
Date: 01/28/2025
I am rejecting this response because: The debt settlement company, Credit Associates, LLC., does not follow through with assurances made to clients that their company will contact creditors in a timely manner in an effort to resolve consumer debit. Credit Associates did not contact Chase **** ******** even after 11 months. This negligence resulted in my facing legal action concerning the above delinquent debt. Subsequently, I contacted ******************* directly in an effort to resolve the outstanding debt on my own behalf. Afterwards, Credit Associates, LLC., contacted me with a settlement offer that was substantially greater than that which I negotiated with ****************** directly. As a result, I rejected the more expensive settlement offer negotiated by Credit Associates, LLC., and went with the settlement that I negotiated directly with Chase **** ********, which was substantially less. This state of affairs occurred because I followed the instructions delineated by representatives of Credit Associates, LLC., not to contact creditors. By following Credit Associates express instructions I found myself facing not only a precipitous lowering of my credit score but also legal action.Business Response

As Mr. ******** states, he rejected the offer we obtained (which would have been lower in the future as we kept working the account) and removed the account from our program. Once an account is removed from our program, we can take no further on it. The account is out of our hands at that point. We have been in business for numerous years and obtain deep discounts for our clients every day. Our clients are routinely happy with the results we obtain for them. Again, here, because the account at issue has been removed from the program, there is nothing further we or any company can do. We have taken all reasonable steps to address this matter. Thank you.
