We signed a contract with Independent General contractor ********************************** on 5/8/2024 to complete the building of the commercial store (meat market plus Kitchen) located at ***************************************************. The project needs to be completed within 120 days and the total cost of the project is $147,000. We paid the initial deposit of $40,000 via cashier's check for starting the work and ordering materials. To finish the work sooner (within 8 weeks) he demanded to pay an additional deposit of $42,000 to order HVAC, electrical, and plumbing supplies without which he said he cannot finish the project on the agreed timeline. We paid the second deposit of $42,000 on 5/15/2024. Until 5/17/2024 he performed plumbing-related work (digging trenches). He didn't return to work after 5/17/2024. We tried calling him, sent him multiple messages on his phone, and sent a couple of emails but no answer from him for 4 weeks. As I couldn't reach him on the phone, my friend and I went to meet him at the address given on the contract on 6/25/2024. He almost came to hit us and talked very rudely that we were asking him the same question about the work. He shouted out at us that HE WOULD NOT FINISH THE WORK NOR RETURN THE DEPOSITS. I called 911 and reported the situation to *****************. When the policemen arrived, he changed his stance and said he would dump the materials at the work site but he will not finish the work but he didn't order any materials. We realized that the *** name 'Mc Streamline' he gave on the Invoice receipts doesn't exist. Statefarm person confirmed that his insurance is not genuine, he doesn't have proper insurance. He has multiple disciplinary actions on his plumbing license. He has a criminal history and also a similar civil lawsuit against him in the past. Please take necessary action on this person and help us with the resolution of receiving refund of our deposit $82000.
