This company allowed me to make deposits, paid off one debt and charged me $751 to pay off one debt without informing me that this was going ti happen, before I agreed to settle the debt. The $751 couldve been used to settle another debt. I requested a refund for the $751 and was denied.Business Response

I enrolled into a credit consolidation agreement with National Debt Relief in 2018. At that time included all of my outstanding debt and agreed to pay a monthly fee while they negotiated a deal with my creditors. Approximately 4 years later I completed my obligation with National Debt Relief and everything was complete as far as I was concerned until I checked my credit report that showed an account with Tractor Supply was overdue. This was because I included that account when I initially enrolled into the program. After seeing this I contacted National Debt Relief and they informed me that there were two accounts with similar balances with **** and the assumed it was a duplicate, which as it turns out isn't the case. I received a call back from National Debt Relief today and I was informed there was nothing I could do because according to them this account was not enrolled and insisted I did not include when I enrolled, not the case. So now I'm left to handle this my own and try to have the negative comments removed from my credit report and hopefully regain my credit score.Bottom line National Debt Relief did not give me the service I signed up for and they agreed to provide and I am less than thrilled with the results and feel it is my civic duty to protect others from this happened to them.Business Response

I just recently learned of the larger than promised fees. I learned about them when National Debt Relief changed the way they shared information on their website. It now shows each individual account, the settlement amount, the percentage of debt to settlement ratio and the fees. Before the updated site, it just showed the debt owed and the settlement amount.
I have no problem with that part but I am just now learning about the fees.Business Response

I sent a check to NDR to get my accounts resolved within 30 days but as of today it has been 60 days. They have lied to me about contacting my accounts since 1/30/2018. They contacted me 3 weeks ago because they had the wrong account number for one of my accounts. They told me in the very beginning they would contact all my creditors and let them know I was going through them to get them resolved. That didnt happen. They have moved my pay off date several times and didnt ever tell me why. I feel they are dragging this out because they want more money for themselves. I didnt come up with the check amount they did. I do think they have been consistent with lying about all my accounts. I feel I have been deceived. I just want to get this resolved ASAP. Please help me.Business Response

In June 2022 I contacted National Debt Relief and paid a "Settlement Amount" of my account balance. They informed me that within 30 days I would be receiving a letter that my debt had been satisfied and my account had been completely resolved. To keep the account open until the account was resolved and a letter was issued 3 additional withdrawals from my account would be necessary. Those withdrawals were taken from my bank account on 6/15/22 $25 : 6/30/22 $25 : 7/15/22 $25.The withdrawals went through on the noted dates and I have been awaiting my account resolved letter. I have not received my letter and further more they withdrawn an additional $388 from my banking account as of today 8/1. I want the $388 returned immediately along with any additional overdrafts meaning the (3) $25 withdrawals plus any additional finds that I am owed. I want the promised letter stating that the account has been resolved.Business Response

I have been with National Debt Relief since 2017 and it has been the worst thing I ever did. They promise you to be out of debt within a certain time frame and they promise to resolve with creditors that will not work with them. National debt takes their piece off the top while you are trying to ***** pinch to pay their upfront fees. With a lot of hardships in the past 5 years all they provide is lip service without going to bat for their client. Yes I have had problems making the huge monthly deposits they require. They initially made a settlement agreement with ***** several years ago for $3000 and because of my Hardships a payment was missed so I completely lost the settlement agreement. National Debt recently said ***** made another settlement offer of $10000, three times as much as the first!! I have over $6000 in the National Debt account that can be used to settle this debt which is more than the original settlement offer and nothing has been done and I wait!! 5 years of this holding me hostage and threatening I will lose the negotiations.Business Response

They totally lied to me about everything! Told me my payments I made every two weeks would be to put towards my debt. They also told me that at the end of me paying off my debt I would get a credit repair program. And the person I talk to you when I signed up also told me that once I pay on one credit card to keep making payments because the money that I keep putting into it will go towards my next credit card and that they would charge me a one time fee for negotiating all of my credit cards. But this was all a lie and also told me that they will get my credit card debt down but instead Im paying more then with my credit card debt was they are charging me a percentage of each credit card debt that I have for negotiating to so-called lower my debt for each credit card. This is nothing what I was told when I entered the program to lower my debt and then once I realize what was going on after five years I talk to them about credit repair and they told me they no longer do that since 2018 and I signed up August 2 she said and they stop doing it August 1 of ******************************************************************************************************************************** go with them because at the end at one of my credit repaired. This place is a total scam and the sales people will tell you anything to get you to join every time I call them I get a different answer or whats going on when I look at my portal you cant see all of that even though its my fault because I didnt see the little arrow at the bottom that you press to look at the details of it but I trusted them of what the salesman told me when I added into the program now Ive paid way more than I even needed to pay then my dad originally was one of them they charge me almost $3000 more for negotiating another one almost $2000 for negotiating there was no way I would have went to this program if I was told that but I wasnt he said a one time feeBusiness Response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because: Yes I got a responsebut it was not satisfactory I was offered $200 for I guess the miscommunication I dont know but Im not happy about it I even asked to speak to someone that would let me get the recording of the conversation but I was told they dont think that I would be able to get the recording of the conversation because I know what I was told there was no way I would ever pay that much money for them settling in well I couldve just did that myself and pay more than my debt was and then get myself even in more debt dealing with them. I even canceled my last credit card with them and settled with them myself which auto pay way more dealing with them because National Debt Relief was trying to get me to take a loan out with them to pay off my next credit card and plus paying them this place this company is a total rip off and I will not let this go especially offer me $200 when I know how I was explain The program Im not crazy I would never pay them a percentage of what I owe for each credit card they settle and I had like three or four credit cards that were high one was like I think $11,000 and then they never even said anything about them telling me how I would have a credit repair at the end when this program had already ended ************ is a total scam

I entered a contract with this company in 2020 to settle 3 of my outstanding debt accounts. The reason I went with this company is they told me they had legal protection that would protect me from any of the creditors taking legal action against me. They had given me a length of the program and a max ****** I would be paying monthly. I was instructed this company would be sending out letters to my creditors upon our contract completion advising them they were taking over the accounts/negotiations. Fast forward about a year later, I am being served papers that one of the creditors has taken legal action against me for 2 of the 3 accounts I had enrolled. I reached out to National Debt Relief in a panic and they tell me that they had not reached out to **** of America yet but they would do so now that they have filed against me. This is not at all what I was told prior to signing up. After this incident, they tell me it's because they had to save up money into my account before they could reach out to them but now that there was legal action against me they had no negotiating power so I needed to up my monthly payments or extend out the program. The offer they are giving me is the same offer the creditor had offered me before joining this program. They have tried to bully me into accepting it multiple times but on top of paying that ****** they want a negotiation fee for it. For what? I was offered this from the creditor before signing on to their services. What a scam. I am going to end up paying more than the original debt I owed before I entered the program and now my credit is trashed along with it. The entire time they were saying they were "saving up money" before reaching out to my creditors, they were paying themselves lump ******* instead. They don't allow you to sign the contract on your own either. They force you to set up a call with them and then send it to you while you're on the phone so they can rush you through the agreement. They are a scam.Business Response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:[Your Answer Here]
This company does not make efforts to inform of any possible legal action. Prior to signing up with this company, they used the selling point of protection from legal action as one of their main points. While its hidden in the consumer agreement, they do not allow potential clients to review the agreement prior to signing on a call with one of their sales members. They paraphrase through the whole agreement while you sign. I have requested this recorded call and they have denied sending it to me sighting they have reviewed it on their end and see no issues with how their sales rep ***************************** ************** *** *** *******They also do not state that it may end up being more than what they quote they will settle. They say they also settle at minimum at least 50% and sometimes better so you might not even pay the amount they are quoting. They are conning people into accepting their program and then squeezing them once they are already enrolled.
They also called and connected me to a loan option once I was already enrolled that tried to aggressively bully me into signingup for a loan that would cost me 3 times the amount of debt i initially had. They are taking advantage of people that are now well versed in the financial world and should be held accountable for their current practices.
I would not have such a big issue if they allowed their clients to review the agreement on their own. There should be no reason its a requirement to be on the line with an agent before they send you the agreement. Their excuse is it saves time.
As far as my accounts, there has been no negotiation on their end as **** of America offered me these settlements prior to joining this program. Now I have the same amount of debt + legal action against me + I owe this company a fee for negotiating when they have done nothing. I am in a worse off spot since joining this program than before I joined and find that unacceptable. In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

we enrolled in a credit settlement program. They claimed to settle our credit card debt, within 2 years, November 2023.if we stopped using the credit cards, which we did.signed up for 2 monthly payments, direct deposited to there payment holder. They have not lived up to there agreement, we settled one amount. Then they tried to sell us a LOAN thru them, we told them NO.They next settlement offers, extend beyond November 2023, and go further into 2024.This is a bait and switch. We told them 3 times now those offers are not acceptable and gave them an acceptable number, not beyond November 2023.We also told them we have further hardship and are now unemployed. This did not seem to matter to them, they keep sending the same offer amount, only its getting higher.as apparently charges are still happening late fees and other ****.When we asked the operator, can you not see our previous comments, they said they get erased. They really, do no care in helping us.We want out, and the world notified this is a SCAM.Business Response
