K & S Towing illegally towed our truck (with a rental trailer attached to it) from a location that was given permission to leave the truck/trailer at. The trailer was still attached to the truck when it was towed with a standard tow truck. They are demanding 45 dollars a day plus an initial tow charge (which still hasnt been specified) to get our property back. The last day we went to try and settle with him he became highly hostile and threatening.

K & S Towing was contacted by the owner of Locals Garage in ***** ** to remove a Dodge Dakota which had a rental trailer attached to it. The vehicle had broken down and was given permission by ***** ***** to leave the truck and trailer at his establishment for a day until someone could come and retrieve it. Mr. ***** was advised that someone would retrieve the truck and trailer over the weekend of August 15/16th. On Monday, August 18th, the truck and trailer was still on his property, and blocking a storage unit that needed to be accessed by Locals Garage that morning. Mr. ***** did not have any information for the owner or who left it to contact them regarding removing the truck and trailer. K & S Towing was requested by Mr. ***** to remove the vehicle and trailer on August 18th at 11:00am. We did not hear from anyone until 3 days later regarding the matter. ***** spoke with a female and advised what the cost was to retrieve both the vehicle and trailer and what the daily storage rate was for both. We are unsure if the person ***** spoke with was the registered owner of the *****, however, the trailer was a rental trailer from Tractor Supply under someone else's name. On Monday, August 25th 2025, at approx. 4:00 pm a male and a female showed up at the lot wanting to retrieve only the trailer. ***** was with another customer at the time and asked the male to please wait and he would be with him when he was done. The male proceeded to become belligerent, then proceeded to go to his car and start pounding on the inside of the car. There was a female sitting in the car who did not identify herself and did not leave the vehicle. The male came back onto the lot, and became belligerent with *****. ***** once again asked him to wait. After finishing with the first ********* ***** explained to the male that the balance owed at the time was $770.00 for both the truck and the trailer. ***** also advised the male that if the balance was not paid in full, the truck and trailer would not be released.  The male proceeded to use foul language with ***** and demanded that the trailer only be released and he was only going to pay $145.00 for both. When the male was informed that K & S Towing would not release the trailer only, the male became verbally abusive threatening bodily harm and was told to leave the lot or the police would be called. ***** advised the male that if the balance was not paid in full, the truck and trailer would not be released. The male again proceeded to become belligerent, and went back to his car, and proceeded to slam his car door against the towing lot gate. They were told to leave again by ***** which they did. K & S Towing will be contacting Tractor Supply directly to advise them that we have impounded one of their rental trailers.

      Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:

My first reason for rejecting the response is that there are multiple errors in the businesss statement

I spoke with a brunette/black haired lady at The Locals Garage, not ***** *****.  I infact have never personally met *** *****.

When i spoke with her she said that yes we could leave the truck & trailer there. She only advised me that we make sure it was locked to prevent vandalism and/or theft. She said their lot was under camera surveillance but to lock it all up just to be safe.

When i spoke with her the second time said she wasnt sure if the Property owner or the County were responsible for having it towed. She gave me the information for the *********** that had towed it so i went to K & S  and spoke with i believe *****.  He was very respectful and explained his side of the situation and discussed options with me. when i went to leave he said to see what i could come up with financially and he would see what he could do. A couple days later my husband and myself returned to let ***** know how much money i had total with hopes that making a payment towards the tow fee/ storage could get the trailer released to Tractor Supply.

Due to health issues at the time i remained in the vehicle. I am unclear exactly what happen but my husband and ***** ended up in a verbal dispute.

The second reason is, the Truck was towed by a Standard Tow truck with trailer still attached to our truck.. It is not legal to move equipment in that manner. The trailer also received quite a bit of damage while in K & S Towings possession..

Mr. ***** is the owner of Locals Garage. We were contacted by Mr. ***** directly, advising us he wanted the truck and trailer removed from his private property. If there is a dispute with another employee of Locals Garage advising you that you had permission to leave the vehicle, that is for you to resolve with Locals Garage and not K & S Towing.

We have pictures of the truck and trailer prior to towing both. Please advise what damage you are claiming K & S Towing caused. Also, please provide pictures of the trailer while in your possession to show all 4 sides so I can compare your pictures to those that we have. There is no proof that the trailer was damaged due to our negligence. The truck and trailer were both towed by a flatbed, and not a wrecker.

Tractor Supply has since retrieved the trailer and paid the impound fees. Tractor Supply should also have records of any damage to the trailer when it was rented which would have been part of the rental agreement with whomever the agreement was with. Is the contract for the rental trailer signed by yourself? If not, the individual who rented the trailer and signed the contract with Tractor Supply is who should contact us as you are neither the registered owner of the truck or the lessor of the trailer.

We have cameras on the property and would be more than happy to provide footage of what transpired with your husband. Video shows him becoming volatile within the vehicle you were sitting in, punching the seats and ***** actually going to the vehicle to ensure you were not in ***** way. So I am unsure how you were unaware of "what transpired". It also shows the altercation your husband precipitated with ***** and your husbands inappropriate behaviour.

As we now have had the Dodge Dakota impounded for 15 days, K & S Towing will file against the owner of the vehicle with the ***** to obtain the title as no one has contacted us regarding the vehicle.

On November 4th, my vehicle and my daughter's vehicle was towed from the ******* parking lot in *****. There are small signs to the entrance of the parking lot stating that vehicles can be towed by this company. There are zero signs in the parking lot itself. As such, it was not clear to us that we were subject to getting towed. Note that we were patrons of the ******* that evening and planning to go to other businesses in the strip mall as well but because our vehicles were towed we did not do that. When we questioned the ******* manager on duty he assured us they did not have an issue with us parking there and it was solely the towing company responsible. The towing company charged $145 per vehicle to release them and force you to sign a waiver that you will not dispute the charges. The behavior of this business is completely predatorial and should not be legal. It is certainly not ethical. There are numerous reviews on Google of similar interactions with this business. They prey on students and visitors to the area who miss the small signs they use as a reason for why they can get away with what they are doing. They are using this as a way to supplement the legitimate, vehicle owner requested, towing needs of the community. The unethical towing practices this company is perpetrating should be forced to cease.

In response to Mr. ******s complaint; on November 4th, Mr. ****** and his daughter parked their vehicles at the ******* ******* ******** ******. After each parked, they were both viewed by a parking enforcement agent exiting their vehicles and proceed to walk off of the property to a nearby public transportation bus stop. Mr. ****** acknowledges in his complaint that there were signs advising that the vehicle is subject to being towed so he was aware the potential was there to be towed. All signage meets the ordinances set forth by the Town of ***** and are approved by the Town of ***** lieutenant. There are 14 signs for that commercial lot that are at each entrance, and are clearly marked. It clearly states that "Walk Offs" are subject to being towed. ******* ******* ******** ****** instituted parking enforcement 2+ years ago due to the high volume of cars utilising the ******* parking lot for free parking during college football game days and local events. The local patrons were unable to park as non patrons were taking up spaces in order to walk across the street to get on the ********* (which is a free transportation) and not have to pay for parking to attend these events. Mr. ****** and his daughters vehicle parked in the ******* shopping area at approx. 3:30 pm and were towed from the parking lot and impounded at approx. 6:00 pm. At 10:07 pm, Mr. ****** called to inquire where their vehicles were. The vehicles had sat in the parking lot for 2.5 hours prior to being towed and Mr. ****** did not call regarding his vehicle until after 10 pm. That is a total of 6.5 hours. The game that evening started at 6:00 pm and ended at approx. 9:30 pm which coincides with the times that the vehicles were left, impounded and when Mr. ****** called.  Mr. ****** came to retrieve the vehicles at the tow lot. He was belligerent to the parking enforcement agents, and acknowledged that he and his daughter had gotten on the bus to go to the game. He advised that they were going to go to ******* after they returned from the game, and then go to dinner at *****'s, but realised the cars had been towed. Mr. ****** also continued to refuse to sign the receipt for the tow, as it does state that the customer may not dispute the charges. K & S Towing has the authority by ******* ******* ******** ****** to tow at will when violators of their parking policies are seen leaving the property. A refund will not be issued as they were clearly in violation of the ******* ******* ******** ******s parking rules as they were seen walking off the property, and were not shopping or visiting other stores within the shopping plaza as by his own admission that they attended the football game.
