I have always had wonderful experiences at Vincents. My father shopped there for my mother when I was a child, and my husband bought my engagement ring there. The staff are warm and wonderful. The selection is great, and customizations of most kinds can be done.

Everyone's experience is different, mine was not the best. I met with **** to widen the shank of a custom silver ring I own. I walked in on the 18th of March 2023 and was told it could be done. **** told me he would widen the shank from 4MM to 8MM. Two weeks went by and I did not get an update, so I decided to call *******'s on the 30th of March to find out the status. I was told by Deanna, a new employee there, that it was being worked and that I would receive a call to let me know when the ring was ready. I called back a week later and was informed that my ring was ready the day after I called (31 Mar). Supposedly, *******'s tried to make contact with me and I never responded, though I checked my phone log and it showed no call from *******'s after the 30th. I picked up the ring on Saturday, April 8th, paid ~$200.00 and noticed the shank was NOT much wider than the original. I didn't think too much into it since I was in a hurry and trusted that **** widened the shank to the agreed specification. A couple days later I measured the shank to find out it was a few millimeters less than the promised 8MM wide shank. So, I went back to *******'s to speak with **** about the width of the shank and was told that he could not find a pre-made shank from his supplier. And when I asked him why I wasn't informed, he told me that he made a unilateral decision to put a ~6MM shank on the ring, since 6MM bands are more common than 8MM bands. He then went on to gaslight me by stating that he spoke with me over the phone about this situation, twice. I never spoke with **** over the phone, nor ever received any incoming calls from *******'s; all calls were made from my phone to *******'s Jewelers. Furthermore, **** first attempted to get me to pay for them to widen the shank even more (an additional $200), then guilt trip me when I said it wasn't fair to have to pay for a mistake, by stating that it would come out of his pocket. I took the high road and left.

I apologize for any confusion on this job. First, the main person he spoke with was ***, Not ****. Will not get into a he said she said on all the details. I have the old shank that was removed from the ring, it is not only much thinner width but thinner in height as well that what we installed, not even close. There were two options, a 7mm shank and a 8mm width shank. The 8mm width shank would have required us to shave down the height thickness of his original ring, the 7mm ring matched perfectly where the new shank and his existing ring, both in width and height thickness and not shave down his original ring thickness. We did speak before the job was completed, I indicated that we were waiting for one other shank option and explained the difference. Now, when he came back in, I explained that we can cast a new shank for him wider and thicker, but would prefer to get a die struck band like before, I told him when he left that I would look for one, if I find a 8mm super heavy comfort fit band, I would call him and change it out at no charge. Or put the 8mm one that I have, but it would require to shave down his existing comfort fit ring to match the same height. ***

texted to him March 18th 5:17 This is *** from Vincents, I made a slight adjustment to what we're gonna do. I am going to get the heavier shank made it won't be gothic but will be heavier. It'll be 7mm so it meets the existing ring perfectly because the ring tapers height and width so I'm gonna match where I can blend it right into the ring.

I apologize on any confusion on this job. First **** entered the job in the computer, but *** had most of this discussion and future discussions Customer came on March 17 at 3:45 with a sterling silver ring with a logo on top. It was very top heavy comfort fit style and was spinning around on hi finger. He had ***** added to the ring before this. The ring heavily tapered down in width and thickness. We discussed the many options he had, he asked about making the bottom shank bigger, but we suggested he first try to add a little resin inside the ring to help keep it from spinning, which we were going to do for him at no charge. He left the ring with these Directions Please remove ***** and add epoxy * * *** to do epoxy * * He called later to indicate he wanted to go ahead and add a heavier shank. So I started to look for options, I looked at ordering flat wire to do the job, but felt that there was going to be to much adjustments to make it work, and did not want to bend and file the wire to shape, as this all weakens the final product. I then looked at ordering a comfort wedding band in a size 11 (the same size as his ring), so the metal would not have to be bent and these wedding bands are very clean and strong metal. By the specs from the manufacturer, it seemed that a 7mm width would best match the ring, where the width and thickness would match the best. But I ordered both a 7mm and 8mm width to make sure. I texted to him March 18th 5:17 This is *** from Vincents, I made a slight adjustment to what we're gonna do. I am going to get the heavier shank made it won't be gothic but will be heavier. It'll be 7mm so it meets the existing ring perfectly because the ring tapers height and width so I'm gonna match where I can blend it right into the ring. The 7mm arrived on 3/20, the 8mm did not arrive until 3/29. When seeing that if we used the 8mm band, where that width matched his ring, the thickness did not we would have to shave his ring down in thickness to match. The 7mm matched perfectly width and thickness. Just as the specs from the manufacturer indicated. The Ring was completed the next day on March 30, we tried to leave a message. The original shank tapered down to 4.6mm wide and **** mm thick. The new shank ended at ****mm wide and 2.6m thick, but also more uniform and stronger from the point the old piece was cut out. When he picked up the ring he was excited. Now when he came back in later, he explained he wanted it wider, I explained all the above variances, I explained that if we casted a piece wider and to match the height, the casted piece would not be as strong as the die struck wedding band I originally used. I not only shoed the original piece we cut off his ring, I had the left over wedding band piece with the piece missing we used to add to his ring. I demonstrated how strong the Die Struck band is, I handed to him for him to squeeze it to see if he could bend it in, he could not. Again, pointing out that a die struck silver band is much stronger than a casted item. After lengthy back and forth, I told him I would use the 8 mm band, but would have to shave down the thickness of his ring, which would weaken the final product. Or I would try to find a 8mm super heavy comfort fit band that would be thicker to match his ring.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. While it is obvious there were limitations on the ring (and subsequent work done to it), the fact still remains that I was not properly informed of the changes. I verified with my phone service provider that there were no phone calls or text messages received on my end (checked phone and phone records). So to be told that we had a conversation "twice" over the phone, and a text message was sent to me, indicates that either a conversation was had with someone else, at my expense, or I was lied to. Then to be guilt-tripped about the extra work that would have to be done to comply with the original work order, is in my personal opinion absolutely unacceptable. This is the reason why ********* received a 1 star rating from me.
