We used the ****** mortgage program to purchase our home with NBKC in 2017 and had a great experience. When it came time to purchase a second home in 2019, we went the same route. Unfortunately, our experience the second time around was terrible. NBKC locked us in at a competitive rate and offered to float down the rate if interest rates dropped before closing. Rates dropped and NBKC did not honor this agreement. Additionally, the loan officer used questionable banking practices, stating that a higher interest rate is better and that a 30 year mortgage had better tax implications than a 15 year and was hesitant to quote the 15 year mortgage. Overall, we were extremely disappointed and will choose an alternative mortgage provider in the future. The loan officer became unresponsive until closing went through. He also offered a credit in place of the lower interest rate which we also never received.
