******** ("E") was subject to a bait and switch where MGM overcharged $14,103. This wasn't filed earlier because of ongoing settlement negotiations. The facts are simple.1-E's house had sewage in the basement due to a broken sewer pipe. E hired MGM to clean basement and remove debris for charge of $11,412.92. Exhibit 1.This not in dispute.2-MGM later said E must also remove clutter from 1st & 2nd floor & had E sign a "Change Order" for $19,159 on 12/14/19 Ex 2 saying it was an estimate for total job including basement. Per MGM records obtained from MGM's atty the charge for the additional work was ONLY $3,401.93 see Ex3, and the charge for total job was $14,991 Ex4. MGM did not show these ******** to E but instead told her later that the "Change Order" was not an adjustment to her original deal but was a whole NEW separate contract and E owed another $19,159.3-$19,159 on it's face is preposterous amount since the total value of all the clutter amounted to at best some $3,000. E would never agree to something like this. MGM tricked her into signing a doc that MGM later used to collect insurance monies. 5-MGM took E's AAA insurance monies of $26,071.96 without notice , having made E sign unlimited insurance authorization as security.6- MGM recorded 6/5/20 an invalid lien EX 5 against her home to intimidate her, claiming MGM received $29,094.31 and demanded $4,557.61 more. MGM extinguished the lien admitting it was invalid.7-In Jan 2022 MGM offered $15,000 to settle this matter but withdrew it. See Ex6- email to MGM's atty.8-In March ****, MGM's atty made a hardball offer of $5,000. E's atty, her 86 yr old father, accepted it, then withdrew it as was unfair to E. He then made a counter offer of $9,500 to split the difference between $5,000 and $14,000. MGM's atty rejected it, indicating E unable to **** saying "Also no attorney will accept this case on contingency fee. Not enough money in it," So, E is turning to BBB for refund of $14,103 overcharge.
