less than a year ago I paid $2,400 to have my transmission fully rebuilt in my 2011 ********************* Interceptor. It has never worked right since. I have taken it back to them twice now under "warranty" work, which they have not given me any receipts for the warranty work, but I do have the original receipt. My transmission slips, does not shift right, has no where near the power it did before. After taking it back to them this last time, which was just over a week ago, where they had my car for a week this time, I noticed my check engine light came on the very next day on my way to work. I also noticed smoke. I looked under my car, and noticed melting plastic down my muffler. They did not hook my o2 sensor back up right. I tied that up with a cord for now, but I just got off the phone with them. I told them I would like satisifaction or I will report you or get a lawyer if I have too. Their response was, "you dont need to threaten with a lawyer". We noticed a crack in your transmission filter, indicating a problem with the "core" of the transmission. That woudl then be a manufacturer issue. Now, when I originally wen to them, they told me a full rebuild they would take the transmission out of the car, fully go through everything and replace everything.. a true "full rebuild". It has not worked right since. I already spent over $200 on using an uber to get back and forth to work for a week. I really dont feel like taking it back to them again, but this time I want it done right.. I'm guessing they didn't do a true "full rebuild", but they are not repairing my car correctly. It has never worked right since I paid for the rebuild. I just want my transmission to work. It broke me to pay that much money, and knew i could have bought another car for that much.. but this is a nice car, and is my car I use for work.. but will end up being a collectors car.. its a rare police interceptor. I've had people offer me $10k for it and I've turned them down

    Business Response

We have been working with the customer for quite some time now, as indicated in the complaint.  We have been and continue to be ready and willing to work with the customer to address his concerns.  As he has stated, his vehicle has been returned to us several times for reevaluation.  Our relationship had been cordial.  I will confine my response to the most recent warranty recheck on his vehicle.  During the last phone conversation with the customer, as stated there was an issue with an 02 sensor which we apologized and offered to take care of  the problem.  The vehicle will need to return to our shop to do so.  He also had concerns about his transmission.  As, he was told, we had gone through his transmission again and it was possible that there may be a problem with the transmission core since we had recently gone through the the internal transmission.  The customer then mentioned contacting a lawyer.   The response was "Are you threatening us with a lawyer.  There is no need for that."  The customer ended the conversation before we could reiterate that he need to bring the vehicle back so we could reevaluate.

In reading through the complaint I think there is some confusion as to what a transmission rebuild is.  A transmission rebuild involves reconditing the transmission's acceptable wear limits. on by cleaning, inspecting and replacing broken or worn parts. Serviceable parts are generally reused within the manufacturer's acceptable wear limits.  An appropriate rebuild kit and torque converter are included in every rebuild.  The customer implies that his ********************** should have had all parts replaced.  The best way to do that would be with a original factory transmission and would cost far more than $2400 if it were still available.

His desired settlement is to Finish the job.  We would be happy to have the vehicle return for further evaluation and repair as needed to correct any issues with the transmission.
