    BUYER BEWARE! I was drawn to Heartland because of the family-owned aspect and organic food offerings - two things I love. The rep who came to our home to sell us the program gave as little information as possible, leaving out important details. I was not feeling well that day as I have an autoimmune condition, and did not ask enough questions. I stated I had just left my job and he said to provide my prior income because no one checks it, which should have been a red flag. I did not question the resulting payment amounts he came up with because they were presented as a factual statement of two set amounts, membership fee and food. We were too trusting and signed up without questions, but stated to the rep that we would try for 6 months, as that was the length of one food order, and then cancel if we decided it was not a good fit. The rep never clarified that we would not be able to cancel paying the $8k insanely high membership fee for ANY reason whatsoever. We found out later that we could have negotiated the price down, plus the fee and food costs were financed with exorbitant interest rates we could have avoided by paying up front, and the membership fee could not be cancelled. I only went back to work part time due to health, and now we are moving internationally to serve with a non-profit and can no longer use the membership. We reached out to our rep with zero response. We then reached out to the offices 3-4 times with very little engagement or empathy. They stated we couldn't cancel and if unable to make payments we would have to take that up with the financing company. I am extremely unhappy with the customer service, care and integrity at Heartland. I would never use them again or recommend to anyone. I want to do business with a company that truly cares about their customers, presents their product with integrity, and treats them like family. They have $10k in their pockets from us so I suppose it was worth it to them to lose a customer.
