    2022 i was searching for a snow removal company, someone who would shovel out our elderly parents on a regular basis because we were traveling and would not be available to help them. I could not find a company to call me back, I left messages, and sent online requests to numerous places. One night, late as I recall, I received a call back from Affordable Landscaping by J&R and I was thrilled to get a call back, we were approaching winter and we really needed someone. They told me that one of their regular clients was not resigning for the 2021-22 snow season for shoveling. They requested that we give them money up front on account, and as they shovel they would send me pictures and price drawing down the money on account, no snow and the funds could go towards landscape services. In 2021 we had a regular landscaper and felt it would not be fair to shut them out, and they assured me we could carry the funds over to the following year to use towards snow removal. We agreed if it snowed so much that we would replenish our account back to whole which was $3500. We were traveling and sent them a check, this is so clear to me because I recall their math was incorrect in our favor, I corrected the math and **** thanked me for catching it. It was an expensive winter but we needed someone to shovel and they did a great job. Since then there has been no snow in ****** ************* to speak of for the past two *******. This year when I reached out late summer and heard back in the fall they asked for $5000 claiming their basement had flooded and they had to get their back up for their computer fixed so they could not confirm they had the money. While this should have been a red flag, I gave them $1000 and copies of messages I had to refresh her memory. I trusted them, she said shed be back in touch with me. We have not heard back from them. I wanted to use the money on account this year for landscaping. My Dad passed away and we could use the help.

    I called the business 11/27 requesting an estimate for a fall yard cleanup. They made arrangements to come to my home at 9 am the following morning. At 1:19 pm that day, they texted to say they'd be there within the hour. At 2:39 pm I texted them to come the next day as I had to get ready for work. They were just pulling up outside so I agreed to meet them. They gave me an estimate and asked for a $200 deposit "so I wouldn't use somebody else". I gave them a check made out to one of the owners (she requested I make the check out to her instead of the name of the business). They cashed the check that day. They said they would be there the following Monday, 12/4 at 9 am. On Monday 12/4 at 10:41 am they texted me to say they would not be getting to me until tomorrow (12/5). On 12/5, they texted me at 1:17 pm saying they would not make it that day, but would be there the next day. On Wed, 12/6 they neither showed up nor called. On Thursday, 12/7, I called them and said due to their inability to keep their end of the contract, I was cancelling my request for their service and asked for the return of my $200 deposit. They texted back at 3p that day saying they would call me. When they called, they said they would come the next day and I told them I had already found someone else. They told me they would not return my deposit because I was using someone else. I told them that they were the ones that did not keep the contract and therefore, should return my money. After some discussion, they said they would return the deposit. They have not returned the deposit. I called them again on 12/14 requesting my deposit. They neither returned my call nor returned the deposit. During the course of this process I placed a total of 7 phone calls to them. See documents uploaded.
