Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, current family members with asthma and CDC travel recommendations to Mexico - I am requesting a refund. My family and I booked travel through this organization for a wedding event in Mexico. Our original departure date was set for 4/9/2020 & was booked on 2/3/2020. Weeks prior to the departure date, the reserved hotel was closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In hopes that travel would be deemed safe by August, I re-booked the reservation for a departure on 8/19/2020. Our travel agent, ******* ******** re-booked the trip and added a credit of $1600 to our account due to the difference in original booking cost. All together, $4911.00 was the amount paid to the organization for the reservations. Ms. ******** explained that of the $4911.00 I paid, I will only be refunded an amount of $2656.00 if we cancel. When I asked why the refund would not be returned in full, she told me that "it wasn't fair" to refund it all based on her company's bonuses and commission pay-outs. This is unacceptable. On Monday July 20, 2020, I emailed ******* ******** requesting to cancel the August reservation, a full refund for all monies paid and the opportunity to re-book travel (with their agency) when deemed safe according to CDC guidelines. I attached a link to the CDC guidelines referring to US travel to Mexico and warned about a report being filed to the BBB and a Demand Letter from my attorney if the refund was not received by Friday July 24. No refund or productive communication has been received from the agency.
