BBB develops reports on charities that actively solicit for general public support. Based on public interest, including requests for information and search traffic on our website, BBB invites organizations to participate in an evaluation in relation to the 20 BBB Charity Standards.
This organization is tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. It is eligible to receive contributions deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.
This organization is a small, all volunteer operation. As a result, BBB has not evaluated it in relation to its 20 Standards for Charity Accountability. The following is an informational report. MissionCrime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests in our community.ProgramsThis Crime Stoppers Program began in 1985 from the efforts ofIndianapolis Police Departmentand city leaders. Its Program now operates as an independent organization. The concept has developed into a combination of efforts by local media, businesses, civic and social clubs, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Donations of air time, newspaper space, and reward monies have established Crime Stoppers as an effective tool to fight crime in the area.
