They have been contracted by ******************. They claim that I did not pay a billing in February. Hartford and I had a parting of the ways in January when I cancelled my account. Hartford then sent me a refund. In February I received a bill. I went in to check the insurance website and my account no longer existed anymore. So, I figured maybe it just hadn't got to the right places. I ignored it since I no longer had an account with them. I have sent papers to show my paper trail included the email giving me the refund. They have been ignored. I do pay my bills, but I will not pay one that I never should have been billed for since my account was closed for a month.

We agreed and signed a contract. On the first day of coverage, we received a notice that they needed to complete and audit and that we would not be able to dispute the amount of the audit for *****. We got a random bill that had a charge for an "endorsement". When we reached out to biBerk we were never given a straight answer to what this charge was, we got a notice that showed they were increasing the monthly cost. We canceled the insurance. They waited until a year later to send us their final bill. It had the "endorsement" charge and an ETF. I questioned both because when we started the *** was 20% of the policy which was also the amount of the down payment. I also asked how they calculated this new down payment and was met with an answer of this is an internal process and calculation and I am not allowed to see or know that info. I requested to speak with someone higher up. I was told I would get a call. I never did. Instead, I got an email that said it was not going to be moved higher up and that I need to just pay the bill. I continued to dispute and make requests to speak with someone else and those went on deaf ears. I then started getting calls from a collection agency demanding that I pay the balance or I will face legal charges and will be deemed uninsurable going forward. I advised them I was disputing this with the company directly. This again went on deaf ears. Now the collection agency has been calling and threating me that my coverage will be terminated and that I will be taken to court to recoup the money. The *** has been very rude and disrespectful. The Tone and snarky / sarcastic remarks are unwarranted. I have notified them there is a dispute with the ************************** and they responded yet again with sarcastic remarks.

I received a demand from payment from this company on 4/10/2025. The demand was for an insurance premium that I had for an accident involving me and another driver in which the paint was scraped on their vehicle by my vehicle. This accident occurred on 03/24/2025. The demanded amount of payment from Brown & Joseph LLC is $1930.68. The information about the accident wasn't on the demand letter, just that their client is ***************************************. I called because I was confused, and they told me it was for the accident. I said I have insurance, and "*****" told me that my insurance had denied the claim, and that I would need to pay the balance out of pocket. I told her I had insurance and there was no reason I should have to pay that amount for a paint scrape, so I would call my insurance. She got very rude and told me they had already denied it. The call ended. She called me back today and asked if I had filed the claim with my insurance. I told her I called them and no such claim had ever been filed with them. She told me I was supposed to file it, and I reminded her that she was very rude with me when I said I was going to call them telling me it had already been denied. She said she never said that and proceeded to tell me I already told her I would be paying out of pocket, to which I responded "you are lying". I asked if their phone calls are recorded and she said yes so I said then I need to speak to your supervisor. She kept arguing with me about me needing to file a claim with my insurance. I asked several times to speak to her supervisor and she finally told me she would send a message to her supervisor to call me. The whole thing appears to be a scam as I can't imagine this "debt" being sent to collections less than 3 weeks after the accident with no contact from the insurance company or to my insurance. I have also seen many other reports of them trying to collect false debts from people and am not sure how they are still a company.

Our clients records reflect that the date of the loss that gave rise to the claim was March 24, 2025. I am rejecting this response because:

I was never contacted by a supervisor as requested. The first phone call consisted of your representative telling me my insurance denied the claim rudely when I said I would be calling my insurance. And I stated Im not paying this out of pocket. The second phone call consisted of your same agent stating that she had advised me to call my insurance and that I had told her I was paying out of pocket. So to tell me you reviewed the calls and she followed protocol is a lie. If isnt a lie, go ahead and send the transcription from the calls. I wont accept being lied to on this platform as well. And will continue with this matter.

      Unapologetically,

Recovery Partners rep ******* called me multiple times claiming I had an accident a year ago and was trying to scam me to give her personal information and collect money. I have never had an accident in my life. Apparently these scam tactics are quite prominent and no one is putting a stop to it. Ive not paid anything out to this company. I had a very minor fender ****** in the parking lot of my complex earlier this year and was notified around August/Sept of my license being suspended for not providing proper insurance info. The total at the time of the letter was $900+. I just received a 2nd letter Oct 24 stating the same thing only the amount is $51000. In no way shape or form did this minor accident cause that much damage to the other parties car. The damage to my car was worse yet the frame was still in tact. This smells like a scam and they are not getting a dime out of me.

BBB Business Profiles may not be reproduced for sales or promotional purposes.

BBB Business Profiles are provided solely to assist you in exercising your own best judgment. BBB asks third parties who publish complaints, reviews and/or responses on this website to affirm that the information provided is accurate. However, BBB does not verify the accuracy of information provided by third parties, and does not guarantee the accuracy of any information in Business Profiles.

When considering complaint information, please take into account the company's size and volume of transactions, and understand that the nature of complaints and a firm's responses to them are often more important than the number of complaints.

BBB Business Profiles generally cover a three-year reporting period, except for customer reviews. Customer reviews posted prior to July 5, 2024, will no longer be published when they reach three years from their submission date. Customer reviews posted on/after July 5, 2024, will be published indefinitely unless otherwise voluntarily retracted by the user who submitted the content, or BBB no longer believes the review is authentic. BBB Business Profiles are subject to change at any time. If you choose to do business with this company, please let them know that you checked their record with BBB.

As a matter of policy, BBB does not endorse any product, service or business. Businesses are under no obligation to seek BBB accreditation, and some businesses are not accredited because they have not sought BBB accreditation. BBB charges a fee for BBB Accreditation. This fee supports BBB's efforts to fulfill its mission of advancing marketplace trust.
