Markoff Law represents clients to whom debts are owed; in this case, a judgment has been awarded in favor of our client. The consumer claims Markoff Law is taking money out of her checks and that the debt has already been paid off. This is a Michigan judgment with enforcement actions in the Michigan courts. Both a wage garnishment and a state tax garnishment were filed, however, while Markoff Law has been receiving funds from the wage garnishment, it has not yet received funds from the state tax garnishment and therefore the judgment amount has not been paid to date. Once the judgment balance is paid, any additional funds that may end up being paid will be immediately refunded to the consumer.Initial Complaint

Im currently working with a ****************** company to get all of my debts paid. They reached out to Markoff Law Office and never received a response. I also reached out to them to get correspondence regarding the debt and no response. I would like something in writing about the debt owed so that I can work on getting it paid off. I almost think they never send anything out in writing and hold on to the debt to take you to court to collect more money for fees. Ripping folks off.Business Response

Hello this is the debt collector Markoff law. Look 7 years ago the car I had was repossessed . ************************* sent it to the law firm. Look they want me to pay them ***** for a car I don't have. First of all I have a letter from the secretary of state saying my name is removed from that car. Bank account frozen. Employees told me that they don't send out information when they're about to freeze your account because they're not a call center but as I read these complaints I see other people are being informed prior to things happening but I was notBusiness Response

I am rejecting this response because:How can you say what my complaint is? That's not it. Both ******* and **** not only displayed unprofessional behavior but I was never served for a court date in March. I actually attended a court hearing in a separate case that same morning. I didn't default. There are 2 separate arrangements. Biweekly and once a month. I asked for clarity and got no response. If I call a law firm to settle a debt don't tell me to look up the information myself if I seeking g resolution. **** was rude and told me to pay her "MY" money. ******* acts like some street thug. Listen to the recorded conversation. They are being untruthful. ******** has had this info since the 23rd.

I received a letter from this company threatening to garnish my wages after I file bankruptcy the debt owed is stated for 2018 I filed bankruptcy in 2020 I feel that this is unlawful collection and I dont even know who the debt belongs to its not on my credit report or anything so how are they trying to garnish my wages? I received a letter from them advising of garnishment of wages for a creditor. As of 11/09/2023, I have paid off the balance and they are still garnishing my wages. We do not show being contacted by the Customer on behalf of our Client. Our office is open 8:30-5 pm central. We can also be reached via email (***************************************)._ We have tried to reach out to the customer since this complaint but the voicemail is full and we have not been able to leave a message.
