Von Maur unknowingly closed my account in October 2022. My account is set up to pay $50 a month regardless of credit card balance. In late May 2022 I was laid off, however the $50 payments to Bon Maur still continued. I was contacted by a Von Maur rep that advised me because I made purchases close to $600 which is not over my limit I would have to make a larger monthly payment. I advised the rep at this time I couldn't do it, but they would still receive the $50 payment. The rep called every month until August. The account was caught up in September. Von Maur targeted my account, pulled my current credit report without me knowing or my consent and decided to close my account. I was never notified of anything. I continued to pay, and my account has a $100 credit. I found out today my account was closed because I tried to make a purchase and they told me I had a credit. Their practices are targeting certain people and pulling credit reports without consent. I want my money and my account reinstated. I've had my account for 6 years without incident. Von Maur cannot pull reports and make assumptions on who will keep their account. I didn't ask for a credit increase therefore they had no right to pull my credit. Also when I spoke to the rep from June to August 2022 she never said they will close my account or pull my credit. Von Maur will have to make this right.Business response

Customer's account was automatically directed to our collections department in May 2022 when the payments were not fulfilling the minimum scheduled payment. The customer received a bill each month noting the past due and amount due. A customer's account will continue to report past due and remain in collections until it is paid current. **** customer brought the account current in September 2022 and continued to make payments. Once an account is paid out of collections, it is reviewed by the credit department. **** standard out-of-collections review was conducted on October 3, 2022 for this specific account. Based on the pay history and the status of a current credit file, the account was closed and the customer was notified by mail.
The account has a credit balance of $88.24 and a credit balance check has been issued to the customer.
Attached are the terms & conditions of our Von Maur credit card, including the payment schedule.
The customer's account will not be re-opened. The customer may reapply at a later date.

I made an on-line purchase this past week of five items. The total came to about $580. I paid witrh a $500 gift card and put the remainder on my ***** After receiving confirmation that all was well, I was told upon shipping that they did not even have one of the items they had sold me. The item cost about $148. They told me they would only give my money back in the form of a gift card. I believe I should get my **** credited back for the amount it was charged and the remainder in the form of a gift card. Any other approach I believe is strong arming the consumer. I should not be forced to spend that addtional $80 with their company when they were selling me a product they did not even have.
