Don't use Bettendorf Heating & Air Conditioning! I paid for service on our A/C unit in June or July where they discovered the possibility of a slow leak. The service guy injected some dye into the system and came back in September to tell me there was a leak but wanted to charge me a $150.00 to tell me he discovered slow leak. This was after the office manager told me it would be a courtesy visit. He also wrote an estimate of $2,500 to replace the coil in the unit or $6500 for a new unit. This company has terrible customer service and has excessive charges. Don't waste your time with this company, there are better companies servicing the ********* Area.

The paid service in June was for a unit not cooling properly.  The unit was charged with refrigerant and dye was added to find the possible source of the leak at a future time.  Charging the unit with refrigerant restores the cooling capability but does not address the source of the leak.  After dye is installed we recommend a follow up leak search at a future date.  We usually schedule them out a few weeks to ensure the ac has run enough for the dye to be detected when we arrive for the leak search.  When we called to confirm the leak search the homeowner stated that it was still cooling fine.  We suggested waiting longer to do the leak search for a better chance at finding it.  Homeowner insisted we come out as scheduled.  We indicated if we did not find the leak on this visit we would have to come back.  This would the result in two charges for the leak search.  After the homeowner insisted we still come on the scheduled day as a courtesy our office manager (with 40 years of customer service experience) told the customer  " if we do not find the leak on this visit and need to return a second time there will be no charge for the first leak search". The tech arrived and found the leak fairly quickly and charged $150.00.  This charge for a leak search is much lower than most companies and our replacement pricing is very competitive with other contractors that have been doing business for as long as we have as well.  The technician and customer called the office and spoke with the office manager.  The homeowner did not pay for the service call and the charge has been waived.
