*********************** installed a chimney fan on my chimney (roof). He charged me over $4000. He handed me the electrical switch to the fan upon completion and said it will only cost $200 to install the switch and to find an electrician to install the fan switch. I have spent years trying to find an electrician to install the switch for the chimney fan. The lowest price was $1800. I have since been advised (by another chimney company) that the chimney fan was not necessary and that I should get my money back. I called ***** several times over the years and he just yells at me and says ** calling the wrong electricians. ***** owes me $4000. I used my fireplace for the first time this year with no issues and did not need the fan (which is just a prop because it has no electricity running to it.) I do not want this happening to anyone else in the future.

This situation has already been dealt with through the BBB and was settled in my favor, "MARKED AS SATISFIED" back several years ago.  I do not understand why this is being re-visited.  This job was done back in 2018 and paid on 1/23/2018.  She sent an email on May 14, 2021 that the electrician she hired was not able to do the electrical hook-up.  That is 3 years LATER.

The Exhaust Fan recommended and installed for the customer WAS necessary due to the ******************** not being to code per NFPA 211 Standards as the masonry chimney was too short and did not meet the "**** Rule" for safety standards.  The exhaust fan pulls the poisonous Carbon Monoxide fumes and other smoke out of the chimney when there is a wood burning fire in the fireplace.  Our Work Proposal clearly states "No Electrical" for the Enervex Exhaust Fan as shown on the attached Work Proposal/Estimate.  The customer was advised and recommended to hire an electrician to hook up the electrical part and that AT THAT TIME, it would probably cost around $200-$600 dollars, depending on the company she hired.

We are not certified electricians and therefore not allowed to hook this equipment up for electric power.

Please let me know if there is any additional information needed to solve this on-going issue, which I find ridiculous.  Especially now that it is 2023.

I am rejecting this response because:

I was charged over $4000. The estimate does not show the entire amount that I paid!

I reached out to ***** several times explaining that NO electricians would do the job of attaching the exhaust fan. I have a CO2 alarm and it never has alerted me since using the fireplace this winter. I was advised by another chimney company that the work was not what was needed. I have NEVER found an estimate to install a switch less than $1500. ***** gave me names of electricians and they would not do the job.

I will get supplemental documents from second company that viewed the fireplaces.

    Sincerely,

I am rejecting this response because:
    ***** took advantage of me.
When I tried to reach him after the install of the fan ($ ********) he went on vacation to *******. In all subsequent conversations ***** becomes verbally abusive.

I was grossly over-charged for work that was not necessary and continues to be non-functional. Please see attached estimate from the only electrician willing to do the job.

    Sincerely,
