I was contacted by ************************* Group LLC about a medical bill that was zeroed out by the hospital back in 2012. They stated that the hospital is suing me for over four thousand dollars. They then set me up to settle the bill for $1,050.88. I paid it and that was the end of that. I then get a call from another company saying the same thing.

*** from ************************* Group LLC called me today and said that if I did not pay "X" amount of dollars immediately that I would be sued by the county I live in and a lien would be placed on my bank account. She had enough of my personal information, and enough information about the so called debt from 2016 to convince me to pay her half the original amount. After researching the *** for medical bill debt collections in ** (4 years), I realized I was scammed. I find it odd that I called the original debt collector two weeks ago, who informed me that I DID NOT OWE the debt, then all of a sudden I now owe it or face being taken to court. These scammers are getting ballsy with the threats, and the amount of personal information they can buy from debt collectors. No point in confronting them or requesting a refund, they'll deny everything or just not answer the phone; seeing as how they called from a fake number to begin with.

This business reached out to me, posing at my student loan lender, stating that if I pay half of my balance my total will be totalled to $0.

    Customer Answer

    Date: 03/29/2024

A representative from **** & Associates Group LLC conned me. They called and acted as if they were my student loan servicer -- offering for me to pay them $1,400 to be free and clear of my debt. After doing so and figuring out they were not associated with the ******************* they are no longer available, nor willing to refund me.
