Met with owner of company explained that I have advanced Malignant Metastatic Cancer and need Carport painted, posts, outside wrap metal canopy, touch up French doors and 3 small closets. Additionally I asked him to touch up a few areas where I got blue paint on white trim. He quoted me $6500 as a verbal quote. When I received the paper invoice, it said Labor only There was only one painter competent to do the work as the other was not a painter. I paid a a deposit of $680, a week later, owner asked for 1/2 $3154, less than 36 hrs later called me at 8:50 pm saying he was stopping by for another check, I asked him how much, he said , $3000 and the work wasnt even half done. I told him I could give him $1500. The painter didnt show 4 x over 2 weeks, said he came but he didnt. Owner thinks painter was here 2 weeks but only 5 days. Owner said I still owed $1875 and to give check to painter with understanding he would return following day. **** was paid in full yet job was never finished. Owner told me Painter Quit Painter told me he was fired Owner. Blamed me that painter quit as he overheard me talk to my sister about the $7100 charge, sloppy job, many missed areas, average painter price is $30 / hr Additionally Owner had me make out check to him directly vs company name and told me I could not add anything to memo line regarding painting Also noted on invoice, taxes were not charged. I have reported this to *** I have just hired new company who I reviewed all the work with, she was horrified. I asked her she much would charge, She informed me $3000 for everything that previous painter had done poorly.

False accusations. The subcontractor quit because of this client attitude towards him, very unbearable to work for, was his explanation. This person was reimbursed twice, for paint and unfinished work. I Have all the documentation of refunds and proof of 2 1/2 weeks of slave work. The client was playing on my feelings and trying to get more and more over and above on what was agreed upon using her sickness as a tool. I'm compassioned person and always help someone in need, but this is not even close to what this person is trying to "Paint" picture of. This client asked me to not put any details on the invoice so she can submit a flagellant clam through the insurance clamming painting as a hurricane damage. Throughout my entire carrier this was the worst experience. I'm counter suing this person for loss of subcontractor and loss of appointments/income on her count.

I am rejecting this response because:
Subcontractor and I had no issues. In fact, I gave him 2 of my Guitars, value of $750,A brand new Jbl Clip speaker, value $125 brand new Mini Circular saw $75 and a 4 ft Steel ladder I could no longer lift. Original quote was $6500 , Final invoice $7396 as I was charged for them picking up paint, when in fact I had to pick up additional paint as owner took paint numbers and never supplied. Subcontractor stated to me the day he started that he was so stress out as owner screamed at him even before he started working here. I am a former Hospice RN, BSN and no one should ever be screamed at. Ever!
I truly felt bad for him.
At initial meeting, I told the owner that I have advanced metastatic cancer dx Jan 2025. Life expectancy 10 months and needed the house to be a Showcase As evidenced by photos, it was an extremely poor outcome I asked the owner to come back 3 times for walk thru inspection and what still needed to be done. Subcontractor said he would be back the following day, yet never showed as he called off and told me he was fired.
I contacted owner and he said it was my fault that he quit, which is not the case. He worked for a verbally abusive boss and was underpaid making $20 an hour. Average painting salary $30/hr
As far as a discount, he gave me $250 off , Ridiculous as original quote $6500, labor only , final bill $7346. Closets were pointed out on day of initial estimate. $800 increase and I paid for all the paint. Picked up paint when I should not be driving.
Subcontractor lied to boss on multiple occasion saying he was here when in fact he never showed. rescheduled with them on one day as I had other contractors in.
I met with another company for finishing the job, showed them the work this company did and they replied, Absolutely Horrible!
As you can see from owners text he gave me no good option, initially had shown some compassion for me but to receive last text has increased my stress so much, I am literally shaking.
This whole situation has been a night mare. Carport and canopy were most important jobs to be done and the job was paid for in more than full and not finished.
I am a kind, decent, educated, giving Caring Retired Nurse.
To be referred to as a disgrace, and a very bad person is entirely unacceptable especially coming from a Business owner. The Customer should always be respected, in all regards and aspects and that clearly is not the case!
Sincerely,

Im always respectful, compassionate, and responsive even in situations like this after many months. I have stayed on top of this project from the beginning, by checking and making onsite visits regularly. Client provided false facts and accusations. The project was 95% finished when subcontractor quit, because of the client constantly interfering with work, setting subcontractor and me against each other by telling us how to do our business and previous response is proof of it as well.
Initial agreement was that we paint carport, posts, canopy, 3 closets, beam, portion of the hallway, some trim,do some touch **** windowsill, up to 2 coats of paint. Because of the condition of the carport and closets, we had to paint carport 3 times, and closets 4 times. Understanding the condition the client is in and being compassionate about her situation I did not charge client anything additional for 3 more coats of paint, which triple the workload. We did much more work than estimated, which is fine and Im good with that, but the ask list of the client capped going and going without ending in site. The client request is unreasonable.
Attachments show proof of the issue settlement with $250 credit for paint reimbursement and $400 check that was delivered to the client for settlement and reimbursement for unfinished canopy, the picture of unfinished canopy shows only 1 coat of paint without finishing and cutting it, also detailed invoice attached.Customer Answer

I am rejecting this response because:Being a bachelorette RN, I am well educated and his response is repulsive. He says thats hes compassionate and caring, and in the same breath , calls me a disgrace and the most difficult client he has ever worked with. This is not the case!
Regarding his initial quote of $6500 then increasing to $7300 is absolutely criminal! He knew he I needed the closets painted and obviously forgot as he charged me twice.
You can see this on his invoice. I asked him atleast 3 times to bring over original quote and he never did. Also asked for final walk thru 3 times and that did not happen either. I was mortified that he came here at 8:45 two days after I gave him half of the payment of $3165 and work was just started. Its obvious he doesnt know how to run a business. Robbing ***** to Pay Paul
He only had one guy working here at $20/hr
$160 a day, why did he immediately need another $3000 from me.
The contractor mixed different oil and latex paints now my French door feels greasy and not dry. I am hesitant to clean it as the paint will probably bubble. Its a PVC door that requires PVC approved paint, not an oil/latex mix. **** took all white left over paints and Boxed them as owner never supplied inside paint. Yes he did pick up carport paint. I cannot drive due to medication I am taking.
He missed many areas on doors and the closet sad I asked for straight lines to be placed adjacent to the blue wall and white wainscoting. Not the case. Subcontractors additionally did not mask anything. The worst job I have ever seen. I did all the original painting in this house and only had a few touch up spots on the crown molding that needed to be done. Again due to mediation I cannot remember everything I told him, hence copy of list when we met.
I had quote from another company and for everything they quoted me $3000 + paint.
They would have picked up paint.
This is a manufactured home with vinyl walls. If you put too much paint on, it will release the adhesive on the wallpaper causing it to bubble. I currently have a 24 x 12 bubble where **** had too much paint on the brush causing this. I will have to have a wallpaper guy come out to fix this.
More money.. I have to spend!
I am trying to get ny house on the market and sold and going to live with my son in Ft *****.
Yes, my health has further declined despite treatment. I think back on how business owner ridiculed me stating I was using my health as an excuse , which is totally upsetting and so beyond disrespectful!
Shame on him! Theres a place in h*** for people that take advantage of clients and that he most certainly has taken advantage of me! I am beyond upset this is making my blood pressure boil.
This is NOT resolved. I asked him to come by for a final walk thru a few times with original quote. He never did.
I am absolutely appalled at this business and with another companys original quote of $3000, I am due $4000 refund ! You dont ***** clients as he did especially going up from $6500 to $7300
This was overcharging for closets which was in original quote.
He said he gave me a $400 discount as I refused his dispute resolution offer to apply 1 coat only on the canopy. That is absolutely ridiculous! Max 2-4 hrs. It was a ridiculous solution.
As I write this, This is Ludicrous! In my professional opinion, the owner of this company must be bipolar as well as narcissistic. Says all nice things in letters to you but screams at their subcontractors even before they begin a job that **** was shaking like a leaf the day he started. Being a former **, ***, I was concerned for his well-being. We had a good working relationship and I did not interrupt his work.
The icing on the cake was when he told me I was a disgrace and most difficult client he has ever worked with
You dont say that in a text to an advanced cancer patient as it causes even more stress which I did not need. Stress causes cancer to spread!
I dont know his nationality, ? Russian but you dont treat people this way!
I can send you his dispute/resolution offer letter. It was not in my favor at all, so my only option was to get $400 back to help pay for fixing his mess!
Additionally I am missing my 6 ft ladder and asked **** if he took by accident, no response. He never covered my grill with plastic which I had on hand he and got paint over my new grill cover. Business owner gave me $250 discount. That was before I found out the ladder was missing $200 ladder
You have all my texts and communication. I am too weak to go to court and need this resolved.
To fix all the mistakes on the canopy, the new company I had to hire out 3 coats of white on the full canopy as well as 3 coats of blue. Yes they even picked up the paint. They said it was a pleasure to work with me. They wrapped the house with plastic and did it the right way!
Please help me get this resolved. I never should of had to pay anything close to this.
Thank you for your time
Sincerely,
Lib *******
