Additionally, it has come to BBB's attention that the business is allegedly threatening to sue customers if they do not delete/remove/withdraw their BBB complaints or customer reviews, or that customers withdraw the text of complaints or customer reviews posted on the BBB website as a condition of resolving the issues. Consent to post the text of a complaint is solely at the discretion of the customer. The business may only choose whether to have its response to the complaint posted or not.
Consumer complaints allege concerns with the rental application process, being required to pay application fees upfront but later denied without explanation. Consumer complaints further allege they were declined walkthroughs of properties, but were advised to view videos of the property on the business website. Some consumer complaints allege they found the advertised property was not in the same condition as represented.
BBB reached out to the business in efforts to obtain their position on the consumer complaint allegations in November 2017, but did not receive a response to address the issues. BBB Industry Tips for Renting:
- Watch out for deals that are too good to be true. Consumers are lured in by low rents, extra amenities, and a great location. If the price seems much better than offered elsewhere, it may be too good to be true.
- Search online for similar properties. Do a quick search for the listing, scammer's email address, or phone number. If you find the same ad listed in other cities, that's a huge red flag.
- See the property in person. Don't send money to someone you've never met for an apartment you haven't seen. If you can't visit an apartment or house yourself, ask someone you trust to go and confirm that it is what was advertised.
