On 4/18/23 I called to arrange moving my furniture from SC to NC. I was asked about all my belongings to be moved and given an estimate of $3484.93 and paid a deposit of $535. On 5/6/23 an associate called to confirm bill of lading and there were a few more items so the estimate was increased to $4558.72 for 670 cubic feet and I paid an additional $1742.46. On 5/12/23 mover arrived with an almost full truck, stated he didnt have enough room, took a video he sent to someone at his company and a man named **** called and stated the video showed I had over **** cubic feet and the move would now cost over $10,000 and I had to pay an additional $5000 that day. I declined pick up. I understand what an estimate is and that the amount can go up or down but more than double is uncalled for. Also, I took measurements and did the math and we do have about ******* cubic feet but no where near ****. **** later called back and offered to do the job for the original amount but I was afraid to let them take almost everything I own and then hold it hostage for the balance of the $10,000 so I again declined. Now theyre emailing me saying that since I declined pick up they wont refund the $2277.46 I paid in deposits. I believe they are the ones in the wrong trying to scam me out of an additional $6000 which was more than double what the estimate was. I would be happy for a full refund but would be satisfied with a refund minus the original $535.
