      I am unfortunately filing this complaint along with reaching out to my local legal aid office as I have tried to amicably mediate & find a solution to a negligent internal company error by HealthyWage where I was given false information verbally over the phone and HealthyWage management is refusing to accept accountability. On December 7th, 2023 around 4PM I contacted ** to get some more info about my Buy More Time, in the event that I didnt meet my weight loss goal by my due date of January 17th, 24. I was greeted by what I believed to be a knowledgeable representative of the company. She advised & reassured me that if I needed to extend an additional 6 months to reach my weight loss goal, that I would have to only pay $50 per month for those next 6 months. She advised that I had until my weigh-in day of January 17, 24 to decide. She explained that the reason for only the $50 per month is because by January 17th, **** I would have already met my 6 installments of $600 and that I would only have to pay the $50 per month for an additional 6 months if end up needing to buy more time. I asked her if she was absolutely sure and she reassured me that this was true & the rules for buy more time that applied to my challenge. She is a representative of the company so I believed her and since in the ** greeting it clearly states that calls are monitored and recorded, I felt confident that this would be recorded and could always be referenced in the future, if needed. I left that conversation confident because she was very knowledgeable and is a representative of the company and felt like I had a solid plan B just in case. Unfortunately now I am being told by ** management that my call was not recorded and are refusing to pull up the call log. I even offered to get on a 3 way call with leadership and the employee. I was misled & would like what I was advised to be honored or to at least be given 1 addtl month at the rate of $600 versus the $50 that I was misled about.

      Our "Buy More Time" structure is posted clearly in multiple locations on our website and is included in the HealthyWager rules. These clearly stated policies and procedures define how all challenges will work so there is no confusion nor misinterpretation, which is why all participants must acknowledge and accept them in order to register for any challenge on our platform. There are no verbal agreements, nor special arrangements. This participant is receiving the same "Buy More Time" structure as every other participant. Buying more time is a completely optional opportunity for those participants who need more time to reach their goal and win their prize. Any participant who does not want to buy more time, can elect to allow their challenge to close normally with no further payments. If this participant does choose to move forward with the standard posted buy more time structure and work toward her prize of $9,416.23, she should contact our team no later than January 24, 2024.

      I am rejecting this response because:
      A representative of the HealthyWage company advised me on December 7, **** around 4PM (proof of call attached and I also had somebody with me that would be willing to testify as I had the call on speaker phone) that the $600 per month for an additional 6 months would not be required if I needed to Buy More Time. I myself actually brought up if it would be another $600 per month and she denied it and advised that I would only have to pay $50 per month for an additional 6 months if I needed to Buy More Time. I again told her that my current payment was $600 per month and she knew that. She went on to explain that the reason I would only pay $50 per month is because by January 17th, **** I would have already met my 6 installments of $600 and that I would only have to pay the $50 per month for an additional 6 months if end up needing to buy more time. Perhaps she thought the $50 applied to all participants who needed to Buy More Time regardless of their installment amounts, but that is not the fault of the participant. She is a representative of the company and should have been trained properly because we contact HealthyWage for support and questions, and it is the duty of the company to give us true information and not deceive us. I understand that horrible mistakes happen and sometimes it unfortunately results in the company having to take responsibility and accountability. It doesnt feel like HealthyWage is wanting to do that. Our call lasted around 9 minutes and she went on about the details about my personal weight loss challenge. I myself even brought up that I thought it would be more but she reassured me that it would only be $50 per month for an additional 6 months. I tried going through your email support team and they arent holding themselves accountable. This is all starting to feel extremely uncomfortable. I feel deceived. Yesterday I also posted my experience my HealthyWage on your social media. I never cursed, I wasnt rude, I even stated how everything had been going great until this situation and you guys blocked me for speaking the truth. I have never heard of an ethical company who blocks a consumer for posting the truth. It feels extremely shady and I am sincerely now regretting signing up. I thought I could be a great testimony. I tried to find a solution amicably. Please I would like this investigation to be reopened because what I was deceived, lied to and misled. I even offered to get on a zoom call with your leadership and the employee. Your greeting says calls are recorded and monitored and now the admin team is saying that you all did not record. This  does not look or feel good at all. Please all I ask if for you all to review once more because something is definitely going on here and it feels wrong. I also offered to just be given one extra month at the rate I was told by the employee ($50) or even $600 just to to finally find a solution to this. Again, I please ask for another investigation to take place.

      This participant's challenge has now ended and she did not demonstrate her weight loss required to win her $9,416.23. Given her confusion about the buy more time structure, we have granted her a one-time exception to let us know she would like to buy more time. If she lets us know by the end of the day on January 24, **** we will permit her to buy more time at the standard buy more time structure. 

      Unless she chooses to buy more time, there will be no further payments from the participant.

      I am rejecting this response because:

      What is the purpose of having a customer support team to reach out to for questions if we are going to be deceived, misled and lied to? My questions have not been answered. Are there truly no recordings of my phone call that day even though your phone greeting states calls are monitored and recorded? Was there a thorough investigation completed with the employee? This representative of your company told me over the phone that the $600 per month for an additional 6 months (of Buy More Time) would not apply to me. I never brought up the $50 myself, I actually wanted to confirm if it would be $600 and she told me NO. She reassured to me on a supposed recorded call that if I needed to Buy More Time, I would only have to pay $50 per month for an additional 6 months. So will the company not hold themselves accountable due to this internal company mistake? I have attached proof of my call. I have offered to get on a zoom call to talk this through and my requests for that are simply ignored. Again I was blocked from your social media page simply because I wanted to advise the public to be careful when calling customer service and to record their own calls - why was I blocked for this? I would like to confirm today January 24, **************************** extending my challenge an additional 6 months. However, I would like for my questions to be fully answered and for what I was promised and reassured to stand, which is $50 per month for an additional 6 months. This is not something that I am making up. It truly happened and I have proof and, again, someone who is willing to testify that was with me the day the call took place. There has to be a way to track the call and hold the representative and business accountable for their mistake. If the business doesnt hold the employee accountable and own up to this mistake how can the business ever be trusted. I dont want to believe this, but it almost feels like they have the customer support team say a lower amount over the phone to deceive us and feeling hopeless. Again, I am confirming today that I would like to buy more time and will await a response to all questions asked.

      The company says you can win money for losing weight and you spot the pot with the winners.I wagered $350. Completed the challenge and won $361 for losing weight over 3 months. Thats only $11. Thats fine though. The business takes their portion out of the pot and it was made clear what I could potentially win.To get my payout HealthyWage has two options. Check or PayPal. The issue is that they charge $7 for sending a check and make you pay transaction fees for the PayPal. I decided to take my chances with Pay Pal and was forced to pay the fees. I was left with $350.86. I only made .86 after losing weight for 3 months. Thats .2% which is less that what you can make if you leave it in a savings account. So I actually lost money. Healthy Wage should pay the fees to transfer you the money they promised you won. They cant force you to pay transaction fees while advertising the money you win is the full amount. This is not the first time I experienced this. They even offer to pay fees if your initial amount comes out less than what you wagered meaning certain people lose more money when completing the same challenge which is unfair. Healthy wage needs to pay transaction fees or change their advertisement with a disclaimer.

      Congratulations to this participant for winning over $2,878 over the past few years on the HealthyWage platform! Our payout fee structure is posted prominently and has not changed in the 3+ years this participant has used our platform. HealthyWage charges $7 for a check payout and charges no fee for PayPal payouts. Any fees incurred by a PayPal payout were charged by PayPal and paid to PayPal. HealthyWage cannot dictate nor control PayPals fee structures, nor can we refund transaction fees that were not collected by us. We encourage this participant to discuss his dissatisfaction with PayPals fee structure directly with them.

      I have asked Healthywager to provide documentation that they in fact gave me a "loan" for the total amount of $900 as this is their reason for not canceling my wager and account. The only thing they submitted to me was a generic response of sorry but not sorry and they continue to take out this money. I have recently found out I have some health issues/concerns that I must address with specialists and their only resolve to this is to pause this subscription. I have voiced numerous times I wanted and needed to cancel and they refuse based on the loan that is nonexistent. If it truly is a loan, I need the money deposited and I will have no quarrel with paying this back. They have been completely indifferent to this issue and flat out refuse to cancel. I have only asked for cancelation, not a refund.

      One of the reasons HealthyWage has paid out over 50 million dollars to our winners over the past 14+ years, is the accountability of being unable to quit. This is why we post our no cancelation policy prominently and require all participants to acknowledge and accept it every time they register for a challenge. This participant reached out about a medical issue, to which our helpful support team provided the available options. The issue has since been resolved by our team.

      The business requested HIPPA privileged medical information with the intimidation of refusing to allow a postponement unless I provided that. None of these employees are medical professionals nor do any of them have the capacity to tell me what is deemed a medical issue or not. They have since deleted my card, but have yet to cancel anything.

      This participant signed up for a challenge to lose 100lbs and get paid $4,050.00. After 4 months she reported she had a medical issue and demanded that her challenge be cancelled. Our medical policy permits participants to pause their challenge when they have a medical issue, like pregnancy, where weight loss is not appropriate. Participants resume their challenge after the end of their medical issue is resolved. 

      As part of processing her medical request our team requested documentation verifying her medical issue. She has not provided any proof that she has a medical issue. We do require proof of a medical issue in order to process a cancellation and will not do anything more for this participant without proof.

      Participating in a HealthyWager challenge is simple, fun, and profitable! No equipment, or even a smartphone is required. Take 30 seconds to submit a verified weight at the start and end of your challenge, meet your weight loss goal, and win your prize. Its as easy as that! With regards to this participant, multiple HealthyWage staff were trying to assist him, but he would provide different and contradictory information to various representatives making it difficult to properly resolve his issue. This matter has since been resolved.

      They sent me a refund for $60 but it took an arm and leg to get it back I'm assuming that most businesses will give the money back within 24 hours of signing up I immediately wanted my $60 back after signing up but they did not respond quickly I told him that I wanted to cancel the order right after I had signed up but they made a big beef about it so **** my conclusion is this is if you sign up for healthy wager there should be a notice that you should be allowed to cancel within 24 hours or something to that effect but they don't reveal that. I don't know if there is a law pertaining to this but I'd be interested in finding out thank you very much for your help *************************

      I have a grave concern that I just cannot let go. My wife and I have 3 kids all under three years old. I introduced and encouraged my wife to join Healthywage after it was safe for her to exercise again on the birth of our second child. She did and I joined with her as encouragement. A short while into our challenge my wife fell ill and we learned that she was once again pregnant. Given that she was considered a high-risk pregnancy, it was advised that she discontinue the competition and she spent quite a bit of time having a difficult time caring for the very active and busy 3 and 1-year-olds while I worked. Upon my return from work, it was my turn to care for the kids so she could rest. I found myself struggling dearly to have the time to keep up with my challenge and be rested to do the work, childcare dance all over again. I knew after a while that it would be unsustainable for me to try and keep up that schedule. So, I reached out Healthywage and was denied the request to delay my challenge with my wife because I was not the pregnant one. Although I was not the one to give birth, I was the primary provider and caregiver of my family throughout my challenge. Our 3rd son is here and my wife is ready to restart her challenge and I just cannot sit idly by knowing that I started this contest to support her and I feel powerless that I have paid the monthly $50 with no way to fulfill my challenge. I would like a credit so that I can have a fair chance to end my challenge fairly

      HealthyWage works because of the accountability of being unable to quit. In situations such as pregnancy, when weight loss is medically prohibited by a physician, we pause the challenge and the participant starts again when it is medically appropriate. We ***** a pause for the health and safety of the pregnant participant and the unborn child. Pauses are not for convenience reasons or increased household demands. Our policies are clear on this matter, as this participant should be well aware considering hes participated and won over $1,650 in a HealthyWager challenge before. This participants challenge ended on October 2, as he elected not to submit an ending weight, nor extend his challenge. This matter is closed and this is our final response.

      I only started 1.5 weeks ago and the company has already charged an additional $45 from me. I called to ask why and was told off by a very rude man named ****** who stated they never refund money and that I had added an additional challenge. I was not aware Id added this additional challenge and that when he told me they never give money back. I wanted to continue the challenge but I realized anyone that rude cant be on the up and up. Ive disputed the $95. Dollars they charged my credit card with my bank and have cancelled that card number in case they decide Ive entered more costly challenges im not ******** making. Im three weeks away from turning 66. I remember when people were honest and clear with their intentions. I remember when people were civil and respectful. I thought this would be fun but its a rip off.

      My healthywager started on 2/11/2023 and was set to end on 8/11, I paid $600 and was promised $800+ if I won my wager. The healthywager in question was deleted by them so I could no longer reference the stats, but I do remember the initial weigh in was about 150 and my weigh out was ***** on 8/11/2023. I have participated in many healthy wagers and provided the same weigh in and weigh out videos that were supplied before. This video same as others showed the scale away from the wall on a hard surface, all surroundings were shown and I was holding the phone the entire time showing a zero start weight then I stepped with both feet and stepped out. I was out of town for over a month and they wanted another video or zoom video provided more than a week after the competition ended. They state that I agreed because of their "fine print". This is misleading or at the very least require this on the last day of the challenge so no time is wasted. Since I provided the same videos clearly displaying what they require, I am due the money that I put it and feel this is just a rip off and now they just want to keep their money. Customers are not allowed to go on vacation or away because they need to be on standby just in case they want to get their money back or for whatever this company wants to come up with. Very misleading, will never use HealthyWager again.

      This participant wagered to lose 30lbs in 6 months. After she submitted her ending weight, our referees reached out within one week requesting a simple weight resubmission to ensure the accuracy of her weight loss. She refused, claiming she was out of the country until at least the next month. She was given additional time and opted to not resubmit her weight. Without a valid verified weight our team cannot certify her as a winner and must conclude she did not accomplish her 30lb weight loss goal.

      We would also like to point out several important facts that show we gave ample notice and opportunity for this participant to comply:

      1. When completing her pending winner form after submitting her ending weight on August 11, she checked all the boxes including the fact that she would remain available to resubmit her weight for the next 7 days, and that she would maintain her weight loss until certified a winner (see attached evidence to show there is no fine print). The form also clearly and prominently states that if you cannot accommodate any of these points, to contact our Support team right away. She never did this.
      2. Our referee team notified this participant of the request for resubmission on August 16, 5 days after she submitted her weight and within the 7 days as listed prominently on our pending winner form. She responded that she was out of the country and would not be complying.
      3. Our team offered additional time to resubmit her weight, but she did not comply.

      This participant has not properly demonstrated her weight loss by complying with the very simple and easy request from our referee team. There is nothing we can do for her if she did not accomplish her weight loss goal. This is our final response.

      I am rejecting this response because their fine print is deceiving and they should be held accountable for this.  The fine print only protects HealthyWage, but does not protect the people that are enrolling.  I like many other people that have enrolled in previous healthywagers to initially win some prizes, but they keep hooking you try more challenges and hold you to fine print when it's time to pay up a bigger prize.  Like I mentioned before, I have participated and did follow the rules of the challenge, I am not new at this and did all that was required the same as I did in other challenges.  I understand it was a significant weight loss, but they should be on your side right, too much weight loss is bad?  I'm still at a healthy weight.  They hold onto this so they can keep money.  Like I mentioned before, I participated and provided my weight out video as specified and they decided to require additional information and were inflexible with providing more time, I needed to leave the country, but I guess this was enough reason for them to keep my money.

      I do see a lot of users that are complaining about this and I do see this might become a bigger issue for HealthyWage.  It's very convenient to request additional information for the weight out, but why don't they require this when you're weighin in.  Or better yet, just request a zoom video for the end of the challenge.  I will be making comments on any site that encourages HealthyWage, its a trap, it's not meant to motivate you to loose weight.  Maybe stress out over HealthyWage keeping your money.

      There is no fine print. Demonstrate your weight loss and you win your wager. This participant was requested within 5 days to resubmit a video to ensure the accuracy of her weight loss. She refused. More time was offered and she opted not to resubmit her weight. This participant has not properly demonstrated her weight loss by complying with the very simple and easy request from our referee team.       I am rejecting this response because I did submit my healthywager, their response is like I never submitted my verfiied healthywager weigh in, but I did.  I submitted through the app and I do not have video saved, but it was received similar to the others.  There is fine print, that is a fact, and very misleading.  Like I said before, require zoom meetings for verified weigh ins for both starting weight and ending weight, HealthyWager is being very selective because last minute they will want to take your money.  Supply the weight in and weight out video to BBB and see what they think.

      It seems this participant is confused, as we have taken advantage of no one. This participant registered for a 6 month HealthyWager challenge in December, but never weighed in. Due to this lack of activity, the challenge was temporarily deactivated for security purposes. Had she reached out to our friendly customer support team, they would have explained this, confirmed the security of her account, and quickly reactivated her challenge so she could weigh in. Unfortunately, we show absolutely no outreach from this participant on this subject. She should contact our team at ***************************** so we can get her challenge reactivated right away.

      I join healthy wage Mar 30, 2023 *** have completed every challange and I have been at or under my target weight every time winning 16 out f 16 weight lose challenge and was on track to win many more. On one of my challenges, the Jedi Loser Challenge, I weighted in May 9, 2023 at ***** pounds and weighed out June 12, 2023 at ***** pounds for a total weight lost of 9.4 pounds. This was a ****% weight lose and the challange was for a 4% total lose. All the weigh in are entered via a real time video throgh the Healthy Wage App. After the challange ended, I received an email stating I did not win my challenge . I contacted Healthy Wage in regard to why I received this email and was told it was because I weighed in at a higher weight for a different challenge during the Jedi Challange, and that was the weigh in that Healthy Wage used to determine that I did not meet the weigh in of the Jedi Challange. So basically they used a weigh in from a different Challange for the Jedi Challange. I called in and spoke to a representative and said this was unfair and asked why I was only informed of this after the Challange was finished. No explanation was given, but that Healthy Wage has the discretion to do this. I asked that my actual weigh in for the Jedi Challenge be taken as my official weigh in and my original amount waged and winnings be credited to my account. I got a email from a ****, stating the following: 1. Confirmation of your understanding that this is a one-time courtesy due to the selection of the incorrect challenge and failure to contact us prior to the Winner Announcement to let us know that the app was not reflecting you at goal. Initial:Date:, 2023 In this email she insinuated that I cheated in my wag 2. Confirmation that moving forward, any new challenges that are registered show progressive weight loss. Any challenges starting with a higher weight than what was last documented would be closed. The most recent weight (dated today, June 22, 2023) was *****. Any new challenges would need to start at or below that weight with this agreement. Initial: Date:2023 3. Confirmation of your understanding regarding our policies with gaming from the General Challenge Rules and rapid gains / losses as outlined in the Services Agreement that are listed below. Please ensure you read them in full and ask questions if you are unsure. Initial: Date,2023 In the email she insinuated that I was cheating because, as she stated there was too of a large flucuating I my weight, disregarding that all the weigh in are record by real time on their app. I disagreed and refused to sign the conditions of ****** email as I had never cheated on any of my weigh ins. **** then had my account cancelled and all my ******, which totalled ******* US and all my winning which, when completed, would have been over $1000 USD. My acount was deactivated and I could not log into my account. I see many complaint in the BBB website and in regard to Healthy Wage and now i see this company is really not about helping people be heathier, but about being profitable at peoples desire to lose weight. I will personally warn anyone I know to not use this company as a means to lose weight. This company preys on the vulnerability of individuals desire to lose weight and their opportunity to earn money doing it. They find many different means to defruad people of their hard earned money and make whatever excuse they want and can shut your account off at any time without any appeal or arbitration.       This participant submitted multiple weights within hours showing significant variation (8 lb difference in less than 24 hours). When talking with our support team about this unusual weight change, he verbally abused our staff.  HealthyWage will not subject our valued employees to abusive behavior.

      We have prohibited this participant from joining future HealthyWage challenges and are refunding and removing him from all contests. It is important that he respond directly to the correspondence sent by our admin staff. We wish him the best at accomplishing his health goals. This is our final response.

      In response to ****** accusation that I weighed in multiple times hours apart with massive weight changes, I would like to receive this evidence, I did ask for it, but Healthy Wage staff never provided it to me. As to accusation that I verbally abused theeir staff, this is simply a lie and a complete fabrication of the truth. I even challenge **** to send me or publish on this platform the converations I had with their staff. This is ****** way to try to discredit me on this platform. I am under the impression she is confusing abuse with fight for my right to challenge their authoritative system at running their challenges and any participants that do not agree with their decision! They even sent me an email with a set of new rules I had to follow, which I did not sign. ShortIy after this I was disqualifited. I would like to remind anyone reading this post or that is thinking of joining this company, that healthy Wage take 25% of all participants ****** for each challenge. Any disqualifications goes staright into their account as a participant's win or lost payouts are determined after each challenge, therefore any disqualification after that time, that money entered goes to Healthy Wage. What I have had the unfortunate experience of finding out, is these type of wieght lose companies are profit based and when that is the case, they always benefit when a participant get disqualified. I won all 16 challenges I entered fairly and it completely benefited Healthy Wage to disquality me. There is no appeal process or third person party that can unbiasly judge their ruling and it was my experience that *********** runs thier participants in a dictitorial bias method which will always benefit them financially. My advise is stay as far away from this compnay and others like it, you have the strength to lose the weight on your own and not fill some ones else's bank account!

      Abusive behavior will never be tolerated.  HealthyWager is designed to drive long-term positive behavior change and not 8lb weight gain in 24 hours. Also, to clarify, the administrative fee is just for Jackpot and Step challenges, which is clearly stated on our platform. Its no secret. The HealthyWager has no administrative fees. Above and beyond his winnings totaling over $2,100, the money returned to him for Jackpot and Step challenges was inclusive of the administrative fee. He was refunded the full amount he paid in for the challenges that were disqualified. We do not benefit financially from refunding him, but did so to ensure our challenges were fair to other participants. We will not be responding any further.

      Once again, Healty Wage is making unsubstantiated accusation without any proof! I have asked, repeately, for Healthy Wage staff to provide proof of their accusation that I was abussive to their staff and the I had multiple weighin with a 8 pound difference within a few hours apart, yet they refuse to provide me this evidence! I find this form of argument and reasoning, very weak and makes thier staff look silly and very unprofessional. Without this evidence Healthy Wage appears to be a very unfiar and bias organization that can arbitrarily choose to disqualify paying participants out of thier challenges, without proof or jsut cause. In essences, by doing this to me, Healthy Wage has robbed me out of legitament earnings that I should have been entitled to by completing and reaching all my challenges. This has been a very negative experience for me and has greatly affected my trust in these types of companies. It has also affected me very negatively emotionally, as I feel I have been treated unfairly and my motivation to lose weight decreased by this awful experience with Healty Wage. Once again, for anyone reading this feed or researching Healthy Wage, I strongly recommend to stay as far away as possible from this company.

      Spoke to my Dr after joining and he said this program was not for me because I am a diabetic who hast to go on insulin after writing several emails and explaining my condition I was not asking for a refund. I was just asking them to cancel my membership and just stop taking $60 out of my bank. Their answer was I needed to get a doctors note and when I said, I will get it at my next appointment which will be in April. They said if they removed my credit card, the remaining payments would go to a credit bureau.. I am 79 years old living on Social Security. I feel this company takes advantage of people like me and because they seem to be heartless and lack compassion for people I would like my $120 refunded and my account canceled without any consequences to me. Shame on you HW

      HealthyWage works. Just ask the thousands of people who have won over $55 million over the past 14 years weve been in business. This success is a direct result of the motivation and accountability our platform provides, including the inability to quit. Our no cancel/no refund policy is clearly communicated in multiple places on our site and app, and all participants (including this one) had to acknowledge and accept this policy in order to register for her challenge. This participant selected all the terms of her wager including her goal amount, length, and amount invested, and would win $1,377.00 for losing 50lbs in 9 months. She committed to paying her registration fee in 9 installments of $60. Installments are a courtesy we offer to our participants to spread out their investment over the life of their challenge. We are not a membership or subscription service. Once fully paid, she would not be charged further. Our helpful customer support has explained our policies and next steps to this participant. We have temporarily paused collection of any additional installments from this participant pending the note from her physician verifying her medical issue. We will not be refunding any paid installments, as per our policy. This is our final response.
