I have been doing preorders through BeachBum Comics for 6+ years without issue until about 2 years ago when the waits for these preorders was getting quite long (other places had same in stock for awhile). When contacted BeachBum Comics stated due to a hurricane and transferring buildings they were behind. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, received a few more orders and ordered a few more as well. Fast forward to present where now everything Ive preorder has been released and Ive reached out to cancel all pending orders, but have not been responded to. Over the years I currently have *********************************** partials, tallying up to nearly 2 grand. Im not sure of the exact amount owed due to the partials and discount upon ordering but even without the partials there should be an easy and substantial refund.Business Response

I made two pre-order transactions, one on 7/15/23 and another on 2/13/24. The first was due back by 12/23 and the other 11/23, so it shouldn't have even been a pre-order at that point. Numerous contact attempts have been made through email and ********. They only ever responded once on ********, stating that they were behind. I have been more than polite and patient, and felt okay with waiting a while past the expected ship date because I'm an understanding person, but to be straight up ignored for over a year now is completely unacceptable. Like other complaints I have several pre orders with them that were paid in advance that I have never received. Many going back as far as December 2022. There is no phone number so I have communicated through their website and ********. my request to ship my items or refund my money have been ignored. I am out hundreds of dollars that they won't refund or give me what I paid for. These graded comic books are readily available in the secondary market even for less than what I paid on preorder. If they were serious about resolving this they could have bought them and still made more money. This is looking like a scam.Initial Complaint

I made three separate orders for graded comic books that took over two years to be fulfilled. I had arranged by email to have the orders consolidated into one shipment with the residual postage i paid refunded. I received my order but did not have the postage costs refunded as agreed. I got told it would be sent to accounting then i never heard back. I have sent five subsequent emails since the 19th of November 2024 with no resolution.I have paid a total of $276 USD for the three shipped orders that were combined ($91.85 (#*****) + $66.34 (#*****) + $118.80 (#*****).Based on **** quote for the parcel that was sent the postage would have cost $150.45USD leaving $126.54 USD as the remaining postage cost to be refunded.Business Response

We agreed to combine shipping on multiple orders over time and do a shipping refund to Mr. **** in ********* but due to the age of the transaction (over a year) ****** kicks the refund back in their system. We will contact Mr. **** directly for a resolution.

I have placed four order ranging from January to May of 2024 totaling to $1857.00. I have only received one book I've ordered. I have sent many emails and text messages asking for my product. I placed 3 orders, July 7th, 2023, December 8th 2023 and January 18 2024. I've reached out on numerous occasions regarding the 2 oldest orders, and eventually I got concerned about the January 18th order. and have all my emails saved. After many emails, The owner responded and we scheduled a phone call to talk about my orders. We finally spoke over the phone on September 19th, 2023. He informed me of the state of fulfillment, which I completely understand when a business is waiting on another business. He refunded my oldest order, *****, which was due back to them in November of last year (2023) while we were on the phone. I asked him about my remaining open orders and he said I would have them before November. 2024. I received the January 18th order, *****, on November 1st. No big deal I am a very patient man. I still have not received order, ***** (due back in May 2024). They have not received it yet. I texted Dre on November 5th, emailed November 18th and the 20th with no response. I texted Dre again requesting a refund Tuesday November 26 citing that he gave his word that I would also have had order *********************************************************** shortly. I replied that "shortly" isn't a measurement and I want a refund. I am still awaiting a refund for order *****. Shortly could be 1 month, 2 months or even 3 months from today, 11.29.2024. The owner gave me his word that I would have both open orders before November, and I gladly only received one of those orders and not the other.Customer Answer

I find the resolution is semi-satisfactory to me b/c although I've been seeking a second refund since November of 2024 due to Dre not keeping his word nor making it right, ********* did keep her word. ********* replied to one of my plethora of emails saying, "Your item is currently in an invoice at *** waiting to be picked up either tomorrow or Tuesday." and that it would ship once the website is updated (2.13.25). The order is on the way, however I will be donating it to a local comic shop.

Like everyone else here I am left hanging after spending money on preorders through this company. Multiple e-mails have been sent over the last few months with no response. This company is still actively stealing from the comic collecting community. I would like a refund or the items I purchased. Ideally I would like to see their site shut down so they cant continue these fraudulent practices.Business Response

Mr. ********** sent cancellation requests all the way back in June after placing two orders citing financial issues. Those were the only two emails we see in regards to his orders until an email last week -
"Hi, I was just hoping to get an update on a couple orders. Ive been seeing these slabs pop up in the wild for a bit now and was wondering if mine were getting close to shipping. Thanks a lot."
Books in his second order are showing due back in December 2024 & January 2025.

I am rejecting this response because:I placed two orders with this company: Order #***** on May 28, 2024 for ****** 2 items Order #***** on May 17, 2024 for ***** 1 item All are preorder items although at the time of writing this one of the items is shown as in stock on their site. 6.22.2024 - I sent an e-mail requesting a cancelation due to financial difficulties. I received no response. 6.28.2024 - I sent a follow up e-mail requesting a cancelation, again I received no response. 11.15.202 - I sent another e-mail requesting an update, if I couldnt get a refund then I still wanted the books I preordered. No response. 11.19.2024 - After receiving no response, researching other customers complaints, and the original estimated delivery time passing I filled a complaint with the BBB. 11.19.2024 - Business finally replied to the BBB complaint. Saying delivery was now estimated in December or January. I agreed this was an acceptable response. 1.28.2025 - I sent an e-mail requesting an update or at least a response. No response received once again. Now were over halfway into February with no update or communication from the business. I this point I know I cant trust any assurances from this company that I will be receiving the items I paid for. The only acceptable outcome to this situation is a full refund.

I made this purchase 07/27/2024; it posted to my bank the following day. After Hurricane ****** I received a distressing email from Beachbum concerning dreadful personal/physical hardships. I never received phone calls or emails after this time. By trying to get information I came across BBB. For a business that claims it was catastrophically wrecked it sure appeared phony as they were accepting and advertising orders as if nothing ever happened. I am rejecting this response because:While I did receive an email from BeachBum Comics relating the hurricane devastation, I also checked their website and it looked like business as usual. To add: no one there answered my subsequent emails or took my calls. When trying to find their phone number I managed to speak to another comic book vendor in the ********** vicinity. They were up and running forthwith and also agreed with me that BeachBum is not all that transparent. Numerous complaints to be found online of promised deliveries, no responses, et cetera.
