    I wrote the bad review of the charges for a battery and wish to withdraw it. The owner is a straight shooter who I have dealt with for over 20 years, and I trust him. I was upset with the charges for a new battery but I with labor at $175 per hour the charges grow quickly.

    I had a BMW tech diagnose my 2000 BMW M5 with a software defect for the engine control module, but he was unable to flash it. I brought it to Purdy to flash the ECM, but Marty recommended they diagnose the problem from scratch with a diagnosis cost of $250. I initially agreed, but then directed them to flash the ECM. They started to do so but stated it was the current version and that further diagnosis was needed and they thought it was the right Mass Air Flow Meter and wanted to test it with an OEM part. The rep told me that the aftermarket parts are Chinese and are junk. I agreed to the diagnosis, however no price was quoted. The next thing I knew, I got a call that the car was all done and the price was $1,300. This is quite a jump from $250! They charged me $570 (plus tax) for the part - one of my BMW parts sources quotes the OEM part by Bosch for $181. To say that I am unhappy is the understatement of the year. They seem very good, their facilities are very clean, but this price issue is ridiculous. Had they given me a price quote I would have said no, paid for the diagnosis and installed the part myself.
