Unisa is handling my financial aid account. I have payments set to auto pay monthly. I got an alert from credit monitoring that one of my accounts was reported as 30 days delinquent which dropped my credit score 108 points. I got no notification from unisa that my account was delinquent nor advised of changes to payments that were needed. On February 28th I checked my account statements and last was from first week of January which had no indication of delinquency nor payment change. Unisa has significantly damaged my credit rating due to their negligence in not advising me of any delinquency nor of any change to payment schedule.

The collection agency has not responded to my complaints. I will have to *** in small claims for FDCP violations. They are trying to enforce a debt that is no longer enforceable.  Plus the amount is incorrect anyway.

              02/01/2023

I graduated in 2014. There is no possible law that says this debt is enforceable. The collector has to provide evidence that this debt is from 2014 and proof it is an enforceable debt. NOT the consumer. The entire fair debt collection law is to protect consumers from this very unlawful practice. I demand that the collector PROVE with actual evidence evidence that this debt is enforceable.  Here he just proves it by saying I said so.

              Complaint: 18681185

I am rejecting this response because:it is deceptive and used to justify the unlawful **llection of an unenforceable debt. The question to the **mpany still remains.  When was the debt originally due?   It is past the statute of limitations for **llection. It remains unenforceable. Consumer protection law demands the **llection agent to prove, with evidence, that the debt is valid and enforceable. This **mpany assumes evidence to prove a debt is enforceable can be presented in the form of Because she said so.  I have demanded in writing that the ** provide evidence and they have failed.  My **mplaint is valid.  This **mpany uses deception and unfair tactics to place the burden of proving the debt is unenforceable squarely upon the **nsumer. That **nduct specifically violates **nsumer protection law. Thus, this **mpany is using unlawful **nduct against **nsumers.

I called the debt creditor and they told me they outsourced my account to a third party. However, ***************** is the third party. I called the company they outsourced, they said they could record the call but if I recorded the call they would hang up. They wouldnt give me a legitimate website or account details via mail. They demanded a $4k settlement from $12k. But couldnt give me a secure way to pay. No one notified me that it was outsourced. These identity stealing, personal information selling third parties make a long process to pay any debt. Sorry Im not going to give you $4k without the proper documentation.
