      I was approved for a credit card. And then I wasnt. When applying, I was not a CU SoCal member. I was still allowed to apply for the card. Along with the original approval came a credit check, lowering my score by a large amount, and it was all for nothing since I was told that I would not be getting my card after all. This after I was told that I needed to apply for membership, and only then would I be given the card. The membership app was denied. The reason why was due to my ChexSystems, (another way of saying the number of accounts I have elsewhere, virtually all of which are savings accounts). When I called to ask how many external accounts THEY allow their customers to have, (rather than the customer deciding), I wasn't given a definite answer nor was I given any written term explaining how many external accounts THEY allow their customers to have. In other words, I have to limit how much interest/dividends I earn elsewhere to even have a chance at CU SoCal membership. I explained that this is the exact reason why I might have an above-average amount of inquiries - due to the rising rate environment and my interest in maximizing deposit earnings. None of the accounts on my report are delinquent, overdrawn, etc., and despite that, I was told that I would be a risk to the credit union. I would like to kindly ask the credit union to reconsider my app(s). My approved credit card app number is ****** and the membership app is ******. I have attached a screenshot of my credit card app for approval proof. If CU SoCal is committed to not allowing potential future members to have a number of external accounts beyond what they deem is a good amount of external accounts, the least they can do is exclude non-members from applying for cards, such as to not even allow the chance of their app being approved and having their credit lowered. I hope that CU SoCal takes into consideration these common sense arguments and allows me to have the card I was approved for.
