I was trying to find an attorney to assist me with a small claim filing, due to I have never been involve with a court situation and I was not familiar with any court proceedings. I understood from the office **** that I would need to pay $300 before I could speak to an attorney and they would determine if I could get help. When I spoke with the attorney the first thing he mentioned was that he did not get the $300, which I sent via zelle, to his personal account January 31st, 2024. I told him the money was sent, I was a number off, but it did go to personal account. According to him my conversation was a free consult. I said this call is mot free because I paid $300 already, so the consult was not free. He said because I had a small claim court case he can't help. Attorneys cannot go in to small claim court. I explained that I was hoping to get help on getting transcript on a 911 call on the plaintiff that was suing me. He asked if I had any other questions. I said I guess I will get my $300 back because I received no help. To me, he shrugged off the $300, but said he would send back because it didn't matter to him. I was expecting to get my $300 back because there wasn't no representation. Other attorney offices that I spoke to says a charge would come if represented. To-date, I have not received my $300. Please help me to get my $300. I would greatly appreciate it. I felt like this attorney was nonchalant and really was not interested in my situation.

    Business Response

We acknowledge there was an agreement for a paid consultation which occurred on February 4th. The client paid $300 via ***** on January 31st, 2024.

There was a miscommunication regarding the scope of services we could provide for small claims matters. While we conducted the consultation as agreed, we understand the client's disappointment when they learned we could not represent them in small claims court.

As a result, we have processed a full $300 refund to the customer for her frustrations.
