I have been working with optima for almost 2.5 years now, with no resolution to my casetwo yrs of IRS tax offset when I don't owe the tax. I have problems speaking to my case manager (it keeps getting moved around). I worked and lived internationally and filed form ****; the extension they give for the managers doesn't work, and I can't get anyone to call me back to address my concerns or questions. The portal says I'm up-to-date with all my documents, and the case is in review. When I request that they email what I need to turn in for my case, it falls on deaf ears, and I get no response, I've reached out to them several times regarding my issues, but no one seems to care or have answers. I'm very frustrated and regret hiring them to help with my tax problem.Business Response

The company as refused to do the job hired. Optima offered ****** as refund, I said no. they have failed to keep their contract. I wanted a full money refund. my time was wasted now I want to be compensated time. I will seek settle torts case in court. Thank you BBB.Business Response

Thank you BBB but I have to agree we don't agree with the offer it was an insult. We will have to go to court to resolve the issues of non-performance and breach of contracted services on the part of OTR.Initial Complaint

This company was hired to help with an *** issue per their advertisements. The tax problems were due to the fact my husband was in ******* care for cancer for two years before he passed. When he died, his debts and obligations became mine. After more than a year (Aug.2020 - May 2022) and much difficulty in communication (you never get to talk to the same person twice, and hear nothing for months) with this business, the tax problem was never improved nor resolved. Due to following the advice of some of their agents, in the end the tax burden increased and is now even more substantial then when first I hired these people to act on my behalf. The only thing different is that I am now out the $1600 I paid Optima Tax in addition to the amount I still apparently owe the **** Optima Tax "closed the case" as resolved as if they had actually done something. The *** confirmed to me that they, Optima Tax, did not really negotiate anything new, I still owed the same amount, and now my payments per month would be more. Optima Tax was very quick in getting THEIR money, but negligent in providing me any evidence regarding the service they advertise. I feel the whole thing is some sort of scam. I don't care if they think they provide great customer service. Every bad review over the last two years could have been written by me, as they all are basically the same other than the amount of money they scammed from people in need. I would like my entire payment refunded, not more platitudes from these criminals. They have no shame.Business Response

I have a case with optima tax service case #********. In your response, OTR stated they would be contacting me; I have not received any replies from them, no letters, e-mails, or calls. BBB should not have closed my case; it is still ongoing and has yet to be resolved. I have submitted tax forms and transcripts for my tax case for IRS and with OTR but still have not heard back from them. All copies are under case #********Business Response

I hired this company 4 months ago. I paid almost ****. The only thing they did was file my 2021 taxes. I requested cancellation of any other services and I want a refund. They said they refund case by case basis. I am going to spread the word and let everyone know not to use this company.Business Response
