1 starThey are out to get your bank information and deliver no services. A total scam! Please avoid giving them any information. They will give you nothing in return.Review fromVictoria W

2 starsI honestly don't think I ever used them. Now I am getting emails telling me that my 'account' will be deleted if I don't log on. Really? Maybe they are a scam. Now if it goes through the IRS it shouldn't be a scam, but is this through the IRS????Review fromRick G

1 starI am very concerned about FileYourTaxes.com.
I filed my taxes just before the deadline. It looked like everything was going through just fine. About an hour or two after submitting my returns I received an invoice from FileYourTaxes saying I owed them over $50 to complete and submit my tax returns. I expected to pay something but I was NEVER informed during the process that I would be invoiced for over $50. Some people would call this business practice extortion.... I went ahead and paid it but that was a mistake. I should have switched to another website.
It is now June 6th and I cannot even log into their web site to check my account and see if my taxes were actually filed.
At this point I would say avoid FileYourTaxes.com at all costs. There are vastly better tax preparation web sites out there.Review fromAndrea M

1 starIt is the worst. Don't use them. I started my taxes with them on April 8, 2023. The federal tax form went just fine. But the state form had 0 for my income, 0 for everything. So I emailed them and it took days to get a reply. I tried what they suggested, it didn't work so I emailed them again.... and again. Long story short, they didn't help much and their site began to crash off and on (mostly off) through the weeks until the 17th of April. I had been emailing them back and forth so I didn't go to another site but continued to believe it would work out. Then they tried to charge me $150. I complained and they "refunded" me. Finally on the 17th I found they had someone's else account and information on my account. Does someone have my information? I don't know. I can't tell. I hope not. I went to turbotax and paid $125. IT was great.

Hi A******
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are sorry that you did not have the experience you expected.
After reviewing your account it seems you started more than one return, and this can create some confusion. When you did complete the process you were asked to pay the fees for your federal and state returns. Our fees are posted at our website where you started your return, FileYourTaxes.com. To see the fees, click Pricing at the top of the page to see the fee for constructing a tax return with us.
We appreciate you reaching out to our customer service team, and we were able to offer you a free federal return as a customer service. We do not see you making a payment for our services or a refund with the account information you provided in this review.
We are sorry that you elected to not pay the state fee of $50.00 and elected another product, however if we can be of any service to you or if you did submit a payment that we do not see, please call us at ************.Review fromAlex D

1 starTHEY HAVE A MISTAKE IN THEIR 2022 CALIFORNIA ADJUSTMENTS-RESIDENTS 540 FORM
WE DISCOVERED IT, AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED IT BUT GETTING EMAILS THAT ITS OKAY TO SUBMIT SINCE COMPLETED. HOWEVER, THE BOX DOES NOT SHOW CHECKED OFF THAT IS CRITICAL TO OUR ITIMEZED FOR CALIFORNIA (NOT THE FEDERAL) RETURN. THIS IS VERY SCARY!!! NO ONE WILL CALL ME BACK, "HAVE A URGENT TROUBLE TICKET" WELL, WE SURE WOULD HAVE GETTING AUDITED....THIS IS AS OF 03/31/23, STILL NOT FIXED AND THEY ARE GIVING ME THE BRUSH OFF...VERY CONCERNED. LOOKED ON FB AND ALSO SAW OWNER ON LINKED IN. TRY TO GET ACTION. WE WERE PAYING!!! FOR CALIFORNIA!!! -- THIS IS NOT A TAX QUESTION OR ADVISE ERROR. THEIR DEVELOPERS MADE A MISTAKE..!!! THANK GOODNESS I DIDN'T SUBMIT IT...NOW WAITING TO SEE HOW WE WANT TO PROCEED. I CAN FILE MYSELF DIRECTLY AND CHECK OFF THE BOX; BUT THIS IS VERY VERY SCARY TO A CUSTOMER. I THINK I'LL FILE THE FEDERAL (WE HAD SOMEONE DOUBLE CHECK THAT ITS RIGHT, MY ACCOUNTANT FOR MY FAMILY AND IT DOESN'T ITEMIZE. THIS IS A CALIFORNIA PROBLEM - DO NOT NO ANYTHING ABOUT ANY OTHER STATE IF THEY HAVE MISTAKES THERE ALSO!!!!

Thank you for your feedback.
Fortunately, we believe that your issue is resolved as it seems you submitted this review before we spoke with you over the phone on 3/31.
As far as we understand you originally contacted us via e-mail on 3/28 requesting to speak to a person, and on the same day we provided you our customer support number. Once you contacted us and we were able to understand your issue, we believe that we came to a resolution with you over the phone on 3/31. Unfortunately, not all issues can be resolved on first contact, and sometimes it does take some time for us to understand and then research a customer concern and provide the highest level of service. This was the case for your issue and we are happy we were able to work with you to a resolution with a day or two.
We hope that our assumption that your review was sent prior to us working with you to solve the problem is accurate. If not, and you are still experiencing issues, please feel free to call us back Monday and we will do our best to continue to provide you service regarding your filing.

5 starsThey have updated their program and I found it so easy and transparent to file my taxes this year. Very clear instructions, very easy to navigate. I had filed with them last year and that made it especially easy, with all my info being transferred. But even so, they found all the deductions I could take and the program was real easy to operate.
As well, if anyone is having problems getting their returns accepted (mine took 15 minutes), it's no doubt due to the IRS, which is an unapproachable monster to deal with. (Didn't used to be, but now is horrible)Review fromDiana D

5 starsI thought for a free program it was great. I also used it last year. The only problem is ..... when you log-in, it should have a warning box that says it is only free if you login to site THROUGH the irs.gov site.
Yes, that notice is there, but it doesn't stand out. The site was very accommodating. I didn't pay. Instead sent an email asking how to get fee waived. One email and they did some behind the scenes magic and waived the fee when I logged back in directly instead of through IRS.gov - to complete the return.
The folks at fileyourtaxes.com RESPONDED VERY QUICKLY. The entire problem was my fault but I would have preferred an "easy reminder" when I started my return- like a pop-up box that said "warning, warning - if you didn't log into our site through irs.gov you will not get a free return. Go back and log-in through IRS.gov if you qualify for free return processing."
Oh well - still a good experience. Thank you.Review fromConnor S

1 starIf you are a computer science major, do NOT interview with this company. They will give you an in person interview and a technical interview. They give loose specifications for said tech interview, and when you follow them to a T, they will swipe your code and cut all contact. Con-artists.

Hi C*****-
Thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately not all candidates for a position are ultimately hired.
The hiring process is complex where we have to weigh many factors regarding a candidates capabilities and our available positions. All candidates for a given position are provided the same technical interview and specifications and we use that result of a candidates interview and submission to help us determine if a candidate is right for the role that we have available.
We thank you for taking the time to write to us, and if you did apply with us and have a specific question regarding your application, please contact the member of our staff with whom you were communicating .Review fromArmando T

Hi A******,
thanks for taking the time to make your comment. Unfortunately the IRS generates the reject conditions and they apply when you use a Free File program or a paid tax software. If there is something we can do to help, please call us at 805.256.1788.
The IRS validates the name and social security number of you, your spouse if married and all the dependents you list on your tax return. If the last name and social security number do not match what the IRS has on file. The IRS will reject the return. This is to protect you from criminals who want to steal your identity and your tax refund and also to make sure your tax return is accurate.
Also if you or your spouse received an Identity Protection PIN from the IRS because your identity was compromised or because you requested on online, you need to get that PIN from the IRS and enter it into the software. Again, this is the same if you use our software or another product.
These are some common conditions that cause the IRS to reject tax returns. We understand your frustration look forward to helping you get your return accepted by the IRS, but the IRS does require certain information to match their records in order for the return to be filed electronically.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and if there is something we can do to help, please let us know.
