I engaged TaxRise to help me with filing 5 years of returns and to help me manage a $5000 bill with the ***. That was in May 2025. It is October 2025 and NONE OF THE RETURNS has been submitted to the *** from them. I have paid them a total of $4900 for these services and cannot even get a phone *** or email returned - yet I just got notice they are about to take another payment. I ***l them and am on hold for 1, 2 or more HOURS where no one ever answers.

My wife and i were mislead by Taxrise located in **********. The person we talked to said we would qualify. We did not qualify based on our income which I believe we should gave been told before committing. We have had an installment agreement with *** for sometime. We were paying *** ovet 500 dollars monthly and all Taxrise did was lower the amount to over 300 dollars.Furthermore, the tax forms filed with IRS were inaccurate. I visited a tax consultant and tax forms were filed and i received a lower amount of over 1000 dollars due to IRS and received 400 dollars from the state of ********..

I have an outstanding tax debt and I spoke with this service about potentially using them. I initially told them I was going to use them for their services and gave them my credit card information. They told me that I could change my mind within 3 days. I hung up with them. Within 20 minutes I changed my mind and called them back and told them I did not want to use their services. This was approximately October 14th. Today, October 24th, I noticed a $125 charge to my checking account from **********************. This after telling them I adamantly did not want to participate in their services. I called my bank to try to stop payment and they couldnt. So, I called Tax Rise and told them I wanted a refund today as I had told them the day of the original call that I did not want to participate in their services. They said they would but they were rude and not quick to respond to my request. Services like this that claim to have 4 star ratings are just scams that are trying to take your money. Now I may have to cancel my credit card to stop them from taking my money!

On October 7th I saw an advertisement for tax relief. I'm behind 5 years on taxes and I've been wanting to straighten this out. I called Tax Rise and they explained it would be ****** dollars to start this government program. After paying them 500 dollars They requested over 4000 dollars more. The next question I asked them is how much would they be negotiating my tax debt down. They explained that it would be zero. I would have to pay the full amount back. The advertisement clearly didn't say that. They explained the help they would be giving is to setup a payment plan. The *** program in the ads doesn't exist unless you are homeless and not working and own nothing. I can setup a payment plan on my own. The *** will do that so what is Tax Rise doing? Scamming people who are already poor. They don't explain cost up front and did not explain that the only thing they do is setup payment plans. This is a very shady company. Acting like they work hand in had with the government. They stole 500 dollars from me and then tried to take over 4000 more.

I've been mislead by TaxRise from the very beginning. Telling me certain things about their services that were not true. Like being able to include medical bills to lower my tax implications. To do that now requires pivoting and filing a different resolution. They have requested the same information multiple times that had already been provided - copies of ID's etc. They filed my state taxes late - costing me an additional $570. They then said it was because they didnt have copies of my ID's and thats why they couldnt file it. I have copies of the emails that were sent showing I sent my ID's 2 minutes after the initial request. I finally got a call back in March/April 2025 from ****** who presented an offer of $2,000 a month for 72 months - $144,000 payment plan. I only owed $30k to start - how is this any type of compromise. They had my income incorrect - then had to fix that. I'm now stuck paying $250+ a month for 3 years and getting no service. I havent received any communication from them since that call offering $144k. I reached out today and they had an excuse or reasoning for everything. Avoided all my questions about the late fees they caused, avoided all questions about cancelling (offered for me to schedule a later time to discuss). For all the services they are supposed to be providing they make you try and remember everything. No reminders that we didnt get this yet. They will let your account sit and collect your money and leave you worse off than when you started. I've uploaded documents that show back in Dec 2024 my concerns and nothing has been done. STAY away from this company. I'd bet 100% they have never saved any of their clients real money through this program. They should be sued, fined and shut down. Its all a SHAM.

We appreciate the opportunity to clarify the status of Mr. ********** case. After completing his tax filings and bringing him into compliance with the **** his case advanced to the resolution phase, where we are working to secure the most favorable outcome possible.

As Mr. ********* mentioned, the discussion with his case manager on March 27, 2025, reflected a proposed payment plan from the *** based on the financial information available at that time it was not a final or agreed-upon resolution. During that conversation, he indicated that the proposed amount was not feasible. His case manager immediately acknowledged the change in income and provided a detailed list of updated documentation requirements via email and through our client portal. To date, we have not received the requested documentation needed to recalculate his financial standing and continue negotiations with the ****

We have since received Mr. ********** cancellation request, and his case has been forwarded to our **************************** for review. A representative will be reaching out to him directly once the review is complete to discuss his account and any remaining questions.
We remain committed to ensuring this matter is addressed appropriately and that all next steps are clearly communicated.

I canceled their services and I'm still getting emails to continue future appointments and payments. I was told they would contact the finance company and cancel the contract which I was told I had three days to cancel which I did. The manager called me on why I was canceling and I told him I researched their company and there were alot of complaints. I was uncomfortable giving my bank account and social security which I had an ill feeling in my gut. The *** said well we already have all of your information which made me more uncomfortable. I don't like feeling bullied. The manager told me I can't get my deposit refunded because they already did services for me. Why would they say you can cancel in 3 days and when I did I can't get my refund. I don't need extra stress of problems. The finance company sent me information that they will bill me every 16th of the month as the contract says even though I canceled the services. This isn't right. In the contract I have to sign and send by mail by midnight on October 16th which is impossible because I live in ******* and I couldn't get the contract there in time to cancel.

I contacted Taxrise around April 30th 2024. Upon my initial intake, I was promised and assured by ****** ********, that my debt of $15.456.00 owed to the *** from 2024, would be substantially reduced, as I recall, the amount of $5,000 I believe was mentioned.During the hour-long conversation, ****** told me that if I were to make monthly payments to the *** on the amount owed, I would end up paying $31.122.47 by 5/5/2035. At that point the terms "protected status, non-collectable, and fresh start program" were mentioned. He also told me that Taxrise used the same software as the ***. A contract was never presented to me nor was one signed. ****** then explained that in order to proceed, I would need to provide him with my bank account information. Based on that conversation, what I had read about Taxrise from BBB, and that Taxrise used the same software as the ***, I felt safe enough, so foolishly gave him my bank information. He said an $375.00 would need to be withdrawn followed by $5,600.00 totaling $*****.00. At this juncture they requested bank statements, holdings of stocks and check stubs from my work which I provided. Having to provide these docs, was not mentioned upon my initial phone conversation, however I did send in the docs.Their resolution: Taxrise would take care of $309.12 in penalties, monthly installments $212.00 with $15,000 still owed. I was dumbfounded, scared, angry- felt like a fool. When I contacted Taxrise requesting a refund they told me that I would need to provide denial letters; Heloc loan, against stock, and property. I spoke with my bank and my financial agent, was told that denial letters not possible since I had just paid off a Heloc loan, so would quality, not possible with stocks and property. When I told Taxrise this information they said I must resubmit the docs I had provided earlier. I'm requesting my $ ***** be returned.Taxrise misrepresented what they could do. My debt still $15,000.Thank you.

I first saw ads on ******** months ago about tax relief and have been struggling to find work behind on rent for 2 years now. I just had an eviction court date on the 16th and I told the original person of the 4 I spoke with from taxrise I was really in a lot of debt. Ani told me i should qualify and that the payment would go toward my tax debt. I didn't expect there to be a fee but I ordered a credit card to help me catch up on bills after being out of work for 3 months and I told her I would use that. Next time I called there was somebody else I had to work with then again every time someone new. I made the payment of $375 with my credit card desperate to resolve what I believe to be over 5000 dollars in tax debt from what I saw when I put all of my w2 and 1099 info into turbotax. The next time I spoke to someone he told me I hadn't filed this year or last which I was sure I had for 2023 because I already started making payments then then stopped because I didn't have the money. He said I only owe like 800 which I think is wrong I checked the irs and illinois tax website and it didn't show a return for 2023 so perhaps I hadn't filed because like I told Ani initially I didn't have 200 dollars to file this year and the same thing mightve happened the year before. So the *** says there's nothing else we can do for you and im like I told you ***s im struggling and really didn't have money to even file but had I known they weren't going to do anything I could've used that money to file my taxes or catch up on the 3 months of rent I owe or the multiple credit cards. I was really hoping to get some help resolving some of my debt but taxrise didn't help me much at all. They only told me I didn't file and only owe 800 somehow, he did claim that I was already in fresh start program before I reached out to them but I was never notified. I just want my money back since they are not doing anything for me. $375 for the 20 min I spent talking with them.

My husband and I hired tax rise to assist us in filing for hardship. Initially they charged us for a retainer at the amount of $500 June 9th. This was to secure an attorney and go over our case and begin the process. Shortly after June 17th we were told we had to pay an additional $2,475 to take care of us owing in federal and state taxes to claim hardship. This process they stated wouldnt take no more than 2 months. We have received 3 letters from the *** in regards to the taxes and each time I contact them on the phone it is the same thing. That they are waiting on the response from the *** and that the letters are not to be concerning but to inform them of the letters. I thought this was confusing because if they sent anything on our behalf as our tax attorneys we wouldnt be getting that our property is at risked at being garnished and levied. It has been over 4 months and things have only gotten worse not better. I regret hiring tax rise.

I contacted taxrise because I was having to dispute a previous years taxes that my ex-wife had filed and we ended up owing over ******. We were divorced in 2021 and these taxes were from 2017.I wanted to get the amount separately from her so I could pay my part. They took ******* dollars and said they would work on my case. It took over two years and they never explained anything to me wanted all my check stubs and bank statements along with my current wifes info. They did nothing for us and now I owe more money and a payment I cant afford. So now I am having to deal with the *** after I paid them to help me take care of this.
