I started the process of forming an LLC on Legal Zoom. Legal Zoom placed themselves as my registered agent and charged me for it. Refused to refund. On November 10th, 2020, I attempted to start the process of forming an LLC on Legal Zoom. I filled out all the information that was requested and agreed to the charges that were applied. I opted for the "3 easy payment plan". Two days later, on November 12th, I received an email from Legal Zoom stating that my payment hadn't been processed, although I knew that the first installment had been withdrawn. I logged on to my dashboard and seen a charge of $249.00 for "RA renewal." Not understanding what that was, I paid it in fear that it would stop or slow my request. On November 13th, 2020, at 10:44 am, I was contacted by a member of Legal Zooms customer service in an attempt to sell me more products not related to my order. While on the phone with ****, I explained I did not understand the "RA renewal" charge and inquired what it was for. ****, who was very friendly, explained that the charge was for making Legal Zoom, my registered agent. I told **** that I did not do that and did not want Legal Zoom to act as my "RA." **** said he was sorry for the misunderstanding and would transfer me to someone else that could help me. After speaking with another customer service agent and giving her all the information, she stated that she would have to transfer me to someone else. I ended up on the phone with a rude and short female, name unknown. I explained that I did not and would never want a website to act as my agent for my business. This was obviously a mistake, and it needed to be taken care of. The Legal Zoom employee argued that I did opt for that when I filled out the forms. I reviewed the information and had my wife review it twice before submitting it. Legal Zoom then advised that I would need to contact the state and make the appropriate change to the "RA" agent and provide a proof before they would refund the charge. The reason people like myself use Legal Zoom and pay the premium because they need the assistance in setting up legal documents the right way the first time. If the customer knew how to make amendments to their state filing, they wouldn't need Legal Zoom, to begin with. Customers do not want to get conned into services, or that is not needed or wanted. The entire process was nothing more than an advertisement for other products. Sure they provide a service, but it's at the cost of more than you want to pay. A quick Google search revealed that this is a common practice for Legal Zoom, and they have prayed on a ton of customers who will pay the unjust fee and move on. I am not that customer. I work far too hard to support my family of 5 to be taken advantage of. The only course of action that would make this right on Legal Zoom's behalf would be for them to make the correction, refund the charge, and change the practice of injecting themselves as registered agent.

Desired Outcome

The only course of action that would make this right on Legal Zoom's behalf would be for them to make the correction, refund the charge, and change the practice of injecting themselves as registered agent.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) Legal Zoom did correct the issue on the same day the complaint was filed. The customer service agent that I spoke to was so much more helpful and understanding. I hate that in order to receive the right service that it came to this.

Legal Zoom has been billing me for three years for a service that I never requested. In 2017 I used Legal Zoom's website to create a last will and testament. I never opted into their yearly legal service. I paid my fee in 3 installments over a period of a year and a half. Each time they charged my credit card, they sent me an email reminder. Today I noticed that I had a **** charge for Legal Zoom's website. I went to the website and found that I had been opted in to their yearly service. I have NEVER received an email prior to one of these charges. When I went to their website to investigate and opt out of this service, one of the options for opting out was "I did not know that I signed up for this." This option, paired with the fact that they send emails about bills for legitimate services but NOT for this yearly service clearly indicates to me that they are attempting to scam people who use their website. I am a cautious person, and I read the fine print when I place online orders. If there were any kind of reasonable effort to let people know they're opting in to this, I would have seen it.

Desired Outcome

I expect Legal Zoom to refund my charge from 11/11/2020. I recognize that I should have noticed charges prior to this year, but I don't want their **** service, and since the charge occurred two days ago, it better be refunded.

(The consumer indicated he/she ACCEPTED the response from the business.) The representative from LegalZoom contacted me very quickly. He was very polite. He listened to my side of the story, acknowledged what I was saying, and refunded all of the charges that I was not aware I was paying. It far exceeded my expectations. I appreciate their prompt response, and I am completely satisfied with their resolution. Thank you for helping resolve this issue.

In 2015 I contracted with LegalZoom for the set up and accounting of an LLC. In 2017 I dissolve the LLC based on inactivity and continue to be charged In 2015 I contracted with LegalZoom for the set up and accounting of an LLC. In 2017 I dissolve the LLC based on inactivity and continue to be charged by LegalZoom for serves not used. The email that authorizes the continued billing goes to the updates folder on gmail and auto renews. I did not know when I first used the service that it would auto renew forever even if you are not using the LegalZoom service. They knew I was not using the service and continued to bill me. That is unethical and not a good business practice.

Desired Outcome

At minimum I request the refund of the last two payments made to LegalZoom both in 2020. This is the least to be done based on the thousands of dollars payed with no services provided. I am a struggling small business person and I cant afford to be taken advantage of by large corporations like LegalZoom especially during the ongong pandemic. Please show some sympathy.

Services were paid for but have not been completed. I purchased an LLC formation packet. The company has failed to produce ANY of the service paid for. Upon contacting get only excuses and runaround. Last "agent" I spoke with lied by giving false information, refused to give his name when asked, then promptly hung up.

Desired Outcome

I want the order cancelled and refunded as I have told the company 23 times.

My refund request has gone ignored for over a week now. I've spoken with at least 5 customer service representatives including a supervisor. Order ID: XXXXX I've requested a complete refund immediately after the order was unintentionally purchased. The webform prompted me to review the information entered but it simultaneously charged my card when I attempted to review the information prior to agreeing to purchase the service. I've since called numerous times and every customer service - including a supervisor - has promised that the Billing Dept. would contact me and process my refund. I've not received any calls or emails from them. Today, I've called 3 times and each time the customer service representative disconnects the call before assisting me. I demand a refund immediately. I did not then - and do not now - want this service.

Desired Outcome

A full refund.

Purchased Professional Printing but Not Showing on Invoice for Order Number XXXXXXXX. I have chatted with a customer service agent a week and a half ago. I then followed up with an email to the email address that agent provided me last week (copied and pasted it from our chat). I then sent that email again to two additional customer service email addresses a few days ago after receiving no reply to the first email. I have not received any replies to any of my emails. I have attached the email correspondence documenting the issue. This is also the same detail I shared with the customer service agent who was unable to help me and directed me to email.

Desired Outcome

I wish for two resolutions: One, for the professional printing I purchased to be provided. Two, LegalZoom corrects their website that does not give a customer professional printing when clicked on despite the price of the invoice increasing (see email for documentation)

They listed themself as my registered agent and charged me **** for a service I didn't request. On 10/28 I used Legalzoom to file a basic LLC. My accountant was to file for my tax information, etc once I received my LLC. Two days later I was charged and additional ***** The representative on my chat stopped Answering me in the middle of our session and never returned. I called and talked to a lady who told me she has been doing this for years. She said I was required to have someone listed and by not listing an agent they are the registered agent. Of course I was upset. I now spent over **** thinking I spent ***** I was told I can only go through Secretary of State to change that information now. Well, it's not even approved and I'm out an additional **** because they don't red flag that you must enter a registered agent and then assign themself. She basically said I just have to wait until I can get in touch with Secretary of State. So I'm just supposed to be out **** that they hope I just give up on getting refunded. What is sad is that my accountant is who suggested that I use them.

Desired Outcome

Refund of services NOT requested in the amount of ****

I truly sorry about what occurred with your order and with your overall customer care experience. Our registered agent service is offered an option to our business customers. Both the payment invoice and the online questionnaire explain the agent service is a yearly subscription that begins the moment the company is submitted with the state and not included in your initial payment. Reason being is because the service does not begin until this time. We are very sorry for any misunderstanding. We will have a member from our Executive Escalations team reach out to you within 24 hours to discuss this matter. Please keep in mind that the service is only optional and can be updated with the state at any time. Will not let me cancel services despite my firing them as my registered agent. Their services are unethical and predatory. On October 30, 2020, I was charged **** for a Registered Agent fee. This is apparently a recurring fee that was charged and contested this time last year, as the services were not needed. I was told to show proof that I have new registered agent in order for them to cancel that annual service (I should also mention that these charges were made to a debit card that no longer exists, so they used some sort of workaround to debit my checking account directly). As I researched what Legal Zoom has done for me, I realized that my company's LLC had been revoked by the state (DC) in which I operate. They should have known that, and I should NOT be charged for services not needed. They gave me a **** refund but said it could be revoked. Is that even legal? I was told that if I choose to dissolve my company I would need to pay them ******** of dollars to do so. For them to do so! I don't want to do business with them at all! Aside from all of that, I am an event producer live events and due to the pandemic and the essential decimation of the events industry, my company has no income, therefore I have no income. I refuse to be charged ******** of dollars to get out of this what? it isn't even a contract. Their services are no longer needed. Period. They have been notified. I am currently on government assistance and have no intention of using their services. They have not performed any duties on my behalf and I refuse to be charged for random and arbitrary services. One phone call resulted in the partial refund mentioned, while others have been met with red tape ("supply proof of X, Y and Z over email and we'll review and let you know our decision" and emails have been rude and contentious. This is not a company with which I wish to do business. I want my money returned and I want to be absolved of any relationship with LegalZoom.

Desired Outcome

I'd like a full refund of the remaining **** that was charged to my checking account. The **** refund should also stand and not be arbitrarily revoked.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I began working with Legal Zoom in 2015 to form my LLC. Since then payments have been recurring -- no paperwork, renewal docs, etc. have been received. I don't think ANY agreement was made in perpetuity, especially since i receive no benefit from your "services," of which I have seen none. Moreover, a debit card that hasn't been valid for YEARS is on my file. Yet you tried to charge that old card until my bank allowed my checking account to be charged. We had the same conversation a year ago, and I was told services would be cancelled. I let that charge go since I was assured my account wouldn't be charged again, and that is why payment info had never been updated. Why is it so difficult?

Horrible Customer Service and lack of efficient communication. I made an LLC purchase on 9/25/2020. It has been NOTHING but issues on their end ever since. First, someone at legalzoom files the registered agent documents that I sent to them wrong in their system which caused a delay. Then they sent my documents to the state on 10/02/2020. I called the state on 10/23/2020 to see the delay and the state told me that they rejected the documents on 10/08/2020 because whoever at legalzoom, filed the documents with other entity information. I called legalzoom right after I hung up w the state. The rejection had been sitting on their dashboard since 10/08/2020 and they wouldn't have even checked or known if I didn't call them to let them know what the state told me. I told them they had to resubmit the documents without the other entities. I asked to cancel and they said they couldn't cancel and would refund me $100 for the filing. They sent me an email on 10/27/2020 stating they resubmitted the documents. I called the state to make sure they resubmitted the documents on 10/27/2020 and the state said they didn't. I called legalzoom back on 10/28/2020 to let them know the state didn't receive it and they said "we sent it out today". I called the state back on 10/28/2020 and the guy I spoke w at the state told me that they filed the documents "traditionally" instead of electronically again and that it may be kicked back. I called legalzoom right back and told them this information. I called several times after to make sure they submitted the documents electronically and they could not give me any answers as to how it was sent. Their customer service is terrible. I have talked to at least 8-10 reps that give me little to no help and on top of that, they have lied to me about having a manager call me. I have asked to speak to a manager for the last 2 weeks and the reps have lied about putting in a request for a call back. And even when one did, they never called back. Today 11/02/2020 I called just to see if the documents have been submitted electronically again, I could not get any answer AGAIN. Then the rep tells me I can't talk to a manager because my documents are at the state. Even w me asking to speak to a manager for 2 weeks straight. I have been trying to cancel this order for weeks now for their lack of communication and just overall terrible customer service. There is no way legal documents should be misfiled more than 3-4 times. On top of all this, I just received an email today stating that I obtained my EIN earlier. I spoke w one of their reps on 10/28/2020 about all the mishaps and delays and she stated she wanted to make sure my information was right so the EIN portion can go smoothly. Today I find out that she requested the EIN and THAT can cause a daily because it was requested early....and I did NOT tell her to request anything. Just verified my information. This has been the WORST experience I have had dealing with a business and I would NOT recommend this company to anyone who values their time and money. For their management to have no respect and their reps to obviously be under trained, it is not the ideal company to spend your money with. I've been asking for a refund and cancel order for weeks and they refuse and gave me different excuses. I have never wrote a review before but this was needed. This is just a terrible company.

Desired Outcome

I would like a refund and for them to cancel my order. I am tired of dealing with the run around and would prefer to do everything myself. As a company dealing with legal documents, they should be more trained in filing and it should be way less mistakes. It is highly unacceptable and I would like my money back!
