When I decided to sell an item on Audiogon, I had never done that - I'm a normal guy, not a retailer - and I screwed up and selected to pay fees up front. I wasn't being careful enough and didn't understand the options all that well. I listed the item for sale and received a couple offers, none of which was close to what I needed. The item never sold and I asked customer service if they would consider refunding some or all of my $700 listing fee since the item wasn't selling and I was having second thoughts about selling it at all now. I received absolutely no empathy, just questions like "Why did you list it if you weren't sure about selling?" She said she would not refund me any money. All she could offer is to re-list the item. Now, I am out $700 (!) -- not a small amount of money. I have a credit with Audiogon that I will never, ever use - I don't sell equipment like this very often, i.e. never. I've since asked to speak with a different manager and no one has responded. They are much better at taking your money than responding to requests for assistance. This is a warning to potential users - be very careful when selecting a fee option because if you screw up like I did, customer service will not help you and you could be out $700 just to list an item for two months. That's pretty good money for no work, Audiogon.
