      Took 1400 dollars out of my checking account without contacting me first and said they sent me an email which they did not

      This company harassed me everyday for a while. I returned their call and they try to set up biweekly payments that I clearly told them I couldn’t afford. My husband had just passed away and had no life insurance. I had his bills to pay and a funeral to pay for. They didn’t want to except that. I paid 1/2 of the bill off but I just couldn’t afford their payment plan anymore because covid hit and my bank had closed down. Bankers don’t make much on unemployment and I was having to make ends meet alone for the first time. My card started being declined because I told them I didn’t have the money. Eventually I ceased all contact per my state laws. Now they are contacting me again through email demanding I contact them to resume payments that I still can’t afford. They don’t want to set up reasonable payment plans. I was never offered a settlement but if I was it would probably be paid in full by now. This company really needs to give their employees some lessons in customer service because they suck at it. Maybe if they would stop trying to force payments on people that they can’t afford then the bills in collections would get paid off a lot more.

      I received a call from a 888 number. The caller identified himself with a name (I did not write it down, though) and said I need to call the number above. At the very end of the brief message he said "this call is from a debt collector". So I am always paying ALL my bills and am not aware of any outstanding bill. And I feel threatened by that kind of message (which btw was said in a very harsh unfriendly voice). I do not want to receive message like this and, in case there should be a legitimate reason to call me, this should always be done in writing.

      I was called by Everest Receivables while I was in a vehicle with coworkers. I quickly told the caller that this was not a good time. He was very rude and made it seem like I wasn't telling him the truth. He basically told me that I had to talk to him and resolve the matter tonight. He talked over me when I tried to talk and raised his voice. I kept telling him that I was happy to talk to him but that I was not in a private location. He asked me why I answered my phone if it was not a good time to talk. The caller ID was a local number and having kids of driving age, I answered to make sure it was not them. I should not of had to explain myself. We got to the point that we were then yelling all the time I am still in a vehicle with coworkers. A manager came on the phone and started off very nice, I was trying to answer his questions without spreading my business through the car. He asked me what I could pay. He came back higher. Then said to me is $9 really that big of a deal? Yes, to a single mother it is. He told me I HAD to post date a payment. When I said no, that he could call me back Friday and started harassing me asking why I wont post date the info tonight. I have never been spoken to this way, or treated this way. When the call finally ended, I was visibly upset in front of coworkers. Completely unacceptable. I am not a dishonest person, just a struggling single parent who just got divorced.
