Upon renting and collecting a car from Budget Rent A Car at ******************************* i was charged for rental insurance after i specifically stated i had third party coverage and did not want any additional insurance.I consider this SCAMMING your customers.I tried to deny the additional cost via my credit card company and my bank which failed me drastically.Advise all customers to read all the small print before signing, even on the mini pad they ask you to sign.ZERO stars, but your system does not allow it.Review from Frederick B

Car was never Inspected or washed ,somebody had driven from ******* to ********** over ****** miles 4 hrs into our drive in the middle of no where with my 80 yr old mom all the lights lite up to the car for oil service tire pressure Stopped at gas station. Put oil in the car and pressure in the tires. Drive back home started making all these weird noises and sounds.with all the lights back up again We thought the car was about to break down any minute luckily we have AAA. . It Ruined our whole trip from beginning to end. We just wanted to get home. We called budget. We were promised they were going to credit us for the horrific experience. They gave us the runaround for over a month with no. Refund as they have promised. And now they're telling us that we should have exchanged the car in the middle of nowhere. Therefore, they will not refund us and only give us one day credit . They Ruined our trip and gave us a runaround for a whole month and some guy named ****** emailed that there's nothing they can do because we didn't Go out of our way to find another budget rental car. Settle of the night to exchange the car. We rented from them in the hopes of getting a reliable car. Budget values the relationship that we have with our travelers and always strives to do the right thing. We apologize for the inconvenience this matter has caused.
We have checked our records and show that we were never contacted about any issues during the rental. This means we were never given the opportunity to make this right when the problem was occurring. Due to this we would not offer a full refund, we did refund 1 day off the rental which was a credit of $74.85 and sent a coupon for a 1 free day rental for a future rental on up to a full size car. We do feel that as we were not advised of any issues until the rental was completed that the credits issued are fair and reasonable.

They lied about the price!! Sent us to a place that was already closed for our pick up so we went to a place they told us to go and they would honor our price from the place that was closed that they let us rent for at that time then lied said they would change the price and didnt!! CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE! There were so many issues with our rental. My daughter secured a rental car online. She paid and received a confirmation. When she arrived to pick the car up, they said they didnt have any cars left and sent her to another Budget location about 20 minutes away. She Ubered there spending about $30. When she arrived, she waited in line for about 30 minutes. She was told they dont accept debit card payments. She had already paid online and the charge on the card already went through. She asked if her mom could pay with a credit card over the phone. They said no and turned her away. She asked if she would be reimbursed for the original rental. They said there were no guarantees but she needed to call customer service and let them know she was ineligible for the rental. They told her that should work. The staff were rude and uncaring about her being stranded at the second Budget rental location with no car. Thankfully, she went over to the Enterprise Rental counter and they had her on the road in about 15 min. WE WILL NEVER RENT FROM BUDGET AGAIN!Budget Rent-A-Car Response

Budget strives to provide a mechanically sound, well-maintained fleet, and we are sincerely sorry that you were inconvenienced by the registration display expiration. Because our vehicles can travel across the country, and in some cases internationally, there can be instances where a vehicle's registration is updated with local authorities where the vehicle is registered, but the license plate display has not been physically updated; this can happen if a vehicle registered in one state or province has since traveled to and is in use in a different state or province. Most law enforcement agencies recognize that renters are not responsible for the registration upkeep of a vehicle and will issue citations against the rental company that owns the vehicle and not the renter.
We are sincerely sorry that you were inconvenienced, and extremely disappointed that we fell short of your expectations. I will be sure to get the details of your review to the *** team so this can be addressed.

I had a terrible experience renting from Budget at the ***************************, as well as with customer service follow up. Service at the *************** was poor. I waited an hour and a half in line to rent my reserved vehicle, while only 3 staff members joked with each other and told customers they should be happy they were working on Easter. I told the representative I did not want to pay the optional service of prepaying road tolls, yet was charged $51.96 for this service despite using maybe $15 worth of tolls. The first vehicle I received had engine trouble and we did not receive a replacement vehicle until close to midnight. This caused us to miss plans the first day of our vacation. I returned the vehicle with a full tank of gas, yet was charged $170.65 for fuel service because I did not show a receipt. I was never asked for a receipt and the gas tank clearly displayed full. I suspect I am being charged for gas used by the malfunctioning vehicle, which wasn't safe to drive and fill with gas. I contacted customer service and was given the run around. A supervisor is supposed to reach out to me within 24 hours. This was a terrible, possibly fraudulent experience.Budget Rent-A-Car Response

We did further review the fuel audit from the vehicles in your use and the fuel charges have been adjusted to reflect the actual use. We apologize for the discrepancy; to avoid charges such as this, we do recommend presenting your fuel receipt at the time of return for a more accurate fuel use entry.
A total credit of $240.86 has been issued to the **** card on file. Please allow 3-5 days for this to reflect on your balance. A copy of the corrected receipt has been issued for your records and should be received within the business day. I was a customer of several years. ********************** caused inconvenience in my daily life twice in a ***************************************************************************** to those who disconnected the call mid matter. My account has been debited more than once for the same transaction. This is fraudulent and communication is awful. If there are other choices to rent, go another route. Ive been renting from Budget for years. Always recommended them. After my last rental on 3/28/2024, that was it. My first problem was how filthy the vehicle was, I saw another review where a renter said that they were charged $125 for a cleaning fee, but they half vacuum these vehicles and they rinse them off, never really detailing them. My second problem was the fuel. I rented from the *********** location and told them I would bring it back full which I did. There is a ****** station right next door which we use to fill up before returning. Well to my disbelief the person ******* who checked my vehicle in said that it wasnt full. They so called did an investigation that agreed with what was stated. Had to wait on it to appear on my credit card statement to send proof that I filled it up, Charged my car a whopping $155 for a refueling fee. Now with me renting from them for years, I know that they charge 3 times the amount of what gas actually costs. Common sense tells you to return it full. This has been the worst situation ever with Budget that I have ever experienced and definitely cant imagine renting from them again. Im sure that the customer service representative will tell me that my proof isnt sufficient and I will have to inconvenience myself to go to my bank institution for something more detailed. This is a big corporation and their practices are costing them great customers, but hey, loose one gain another. Get it together Budget!Budget Rent-A-Car Response

I reserved a car in December of 2023 for March 2024. When we arrived it took over 3 hours to get the reservation that was supposed to ready to go when we landed. Not a single apology. Rather a raised price from $567 (agreed to on 12/3/2024) to $875 (charged on 3/23/24). When we got to the car the side of it was damaged, there was left over garbage and dog toys in the bed, it had clearly been smoked in, and the car seat that was supposed to be ready was in a pile of broken car seats for us to have to pick through in hopes to find one that worked for our infant. Still no apology or offer of help. We returned the car the day we were supposed to on 3/30/24 with a full tank of gas. When we reached the airport terminal my card had already had a new charge added to it for $1,044.20. They have charged for gas, extra days of usage, a convenience fee of waiting for the car and dealing with their lack of customer service. I have submitted receipts proving the gas was put into the car 15 minutes before the car was left in their possession and still nothing is being done. Rather they are standing firm on that the money will not be returned. The agreed upon price is not being honored as they are adding erroneous charges and this is going unchecked and unpunished as ****** reviews will go to show.Budget Rent-A-Car Response

While we do confirm that your original reservation booking did take place on December 3rd of 2023, changes made to the reservation through the Budget website self-service options such as took place on March 23rd prior to the rental checkout can result in changes to the rate value; the current reservation details that we reflect a weekly rate of $391.49 and an overall total of $674.10 including additional services and associated taxes and fees.
The rental was billed for 8 days of use due to a late return and for fuel charges. The fuel charge was refunded on April 4th and an updated receipt was sent to your email on file. We are sorry that the charges displayed on your finalized rental billing differed from what you were expecting.
Although we realize that we cannot make up for a disappointing experience such as this, we do appreciate your contacting us.
