Local BBB Happenings for August 2020

BBB employees recently spent hundreds of hours reviewing applications for grants to small businesses and nonprofits from the City of Austin. These grants, funded through federal CARES Act dollars, offered reimbursements for expenses incurred between March and July that hadn’t already been paid for by other federal programs.

It was humbling to play a small part in helping to keep some vulnerable small businesses and nonprofits afloat. We learned some things that will help us better serve our Accredited Businesses in the future.

While many of our accredited businesses have rebounded from challenges occurring early in the COVID-19 pandemic, we know this is not true of all. We’re here to help with whatever challenges you have.

For those in growth mode, be sure to take advantage of BBB’s partnership with Indeed. Businesses can receive a $200 sponsored job credit when they open a new account with Indeed. Research shows that sponsored jobs, because they stay at the top of listings, draw more applicants. More applicants gives you better choices. If your business is hiring, make sure you take advantage of this opportunity by going to indeed.com/partner/bbb.

We’re also here to listen and serve as a sounding board for those who continue to struggle with the changes they’ll need to make to their service delivery in order to fully move forward. We hear from a lot of businesses, which gives us the opportunity to share stories of recovery that may prove helpful to other businesses.

Besides being only a phone call or email away, we’re also hosting a podcast, “Trust Builders with BBB.” Each episode features a different topic, ranging from business leaders sharing their success stories to the latest scams affecting Texans to tips on how to navigate the current marketplace. Subscribe and listen to episodes on Spotify or Anywhere.
