New St. Louis And Springfield Partnership Will Have Positive Impact On Communities

White TorchBBB Springfield today announces it is expanding its reach by merging with BBB St. Louis. The partnership will expand BBB’s service area to a total of 116 counties, covering two-thirds of the state of Missouri and half of Illinois. Intended to benefit both businesses and consumers, the merger will make enhanced BBB services available to over six million people across Eastern and Southwest Missouri and Southern Illinois.

BBB Board Chair Michael Rottler called the merger "the start of a new era for St. Louis BBB.” He went on to say, “Efficiency gains and cost consolidations resulting from the merger will mean technological advancements that ultimately will mean more and improved services throughout our region."

The Council of BBB approved the plan to merge the service areas of BBBs in Springfield and St. Louis in June 2017. The newly combined territory boasts more than 9,000 Accredited Businesses. The governing bodies of both organizations believe that the public will be better served by a single entity.

"With the merger, we'll be able to build on each other's strengths, combine resources and initiate new programs to meet the needs of today's businesses and consumers," says Michelle L. Corey, BBB President and CEO. "We are committed to the success of this union because it will result in a single reliable, respected resource to which local businesses and consumers can go for information about marketplace trust."

Linking the resources of both trusted organizations will expand our capacity to serve even more businesses and consumers."

BBB is moving toward an implementation plan which was approved by the Board of Directors and is anticipated to be completed in the next few months.
