Not sure where to start with this review. I'm still in shock. Several weeks ago we applied for a small loan to purchase a used car. Once we were approved we proceeded to look for a car. It was difficult finding a car for **** which is what we asked for so we called back to see if we could get more. We're on a fixed income and the higher amount was denied so we kept looking for a car for around ****. BTW we checked earlier to see if our loan was still good and was told we had until the 20th to use the loan before having to reapply. Finally the day came. We found a car. It was 900 over the loan amount which we were prepared to pay, however the loan officer stated she would see if she could get the 900 financed. Off we go to pick up our car because at this point we're only waiting for an answer on 900. Much to our surprise we're at the car dealership and get a call that they (Neighbors Credit Union) changed their mind and decided not to give us a loan at all. Shocked doesn't begin to describe my reaction after all the loan was approved 3 weeks now just waiting for us to find a car. We've been with neighbors 30 plus years. You'd think if they changed their mind they had time to tell us before we got to the dealership and sat in front of our salesman. The reason they gave was debt to income ratio. "You have a good score but you debt to income ratio is too high. Aren't you suppose to make that decision during the loan process. Our debt to income ratio had improved since the loan was approved because we had paid on our debt and had no new charges. Neighbors you need to do better.Review from Erin L

The neighbors I know is consistently understaffed, has an archaic (at best) app, and hardly any atm access. Plus when you call they can't give you answers because the right hand doesn't know what the left is doing. They advertise atms in your co-op but then charge when folks who need them use them. Shame on them. The place is a mess.Review from Robert B

Well I thought they were a good company until they completely ******* us over. We had to switch loan companies over an issue with the appraisal. We asked them not to upload to to the **** said they would not and they did it any way once we closed our loan application. Don't trust this company at all.Review from Larry G.

Worst credit union ever dealt with, especially considering my accounts with them and cds. I'm suddenly locked out of paying my bills on line through them. My savings, checking, and cds are with them. I've tried going through their change password system and it doesn't work and keeps locking me out. Worse? It locked us out of our accounts. Worse? I've called them time after time today. Options are ridiculous; can't get an operator. Worse? Recorded messaged said I was on hold for approximately 23 minutes, or option 2, leave my number and they would call me back 2 and a half hours later? no call back. Called again, told I would be answered in approximately 5 minutes. 26 minutes later? Still on hold, No call back. Called and called got a receptionist from another office finally. I demanded a manager, he was busy. Told them to call my wife back I had to leave. They finally called back, said they gave her a password to get back in. It DIDN'T WORK!!! Still locked out.....HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE.Neighbors Credit Union Response

This bank contacted us in 2019 to refinance our truck loan. They offered us a decent rate at a lower price. We went to some shady "member closing center" off Manchester and we spoke with a gentleman through a computer screen. We were told that monthly payments, and bi monthly payments were not an option and that we could only do bi weekly payments. We were also told our payments could be 3 weeks late and we would have no late fees or reports to our credit. The way our paychecks fall our payments are sometimes late. I've called and asked to change the date, and I have been told that's not an option. Today I spoke with a rep who was nice enough to research and told me we can change our date 1 time, but the loan has to be current. I spoke with another rep who told me they outsource their refinancing for car loans and they had no idea why the rep told us what they did, and why they hire people who are not knowledgeable on the loans with neighbors. Honestly this was the worst mistake I've made thus far. I regularly bank with *************** Credit Union and never have issues with late fees etc. On top of everything this was supposed to be a 5 year loan now I'm being told it's been extended and it is a 5 and a half year loan. I have never heard of such a thing. Save your money and time and go to a different bank. On top of everything the rep I talked to was sorry that I misunderstood the terms. Which means that I'm in the wrong. The rep also implied that I was lying. Worst mistake I've made. **************** *****.Review from Nate

I have been banking at neighbors credit union for 20+ years. By that I mean I was banking at St. Louis postal credit union before it turned into neighbors credit union. I will be with drawing all of my money today and closing all of my accounts with this bank. Over the last several months I have noticed that their customer service has completely done a 180° change. There is no one in the office to assist account holders and no one ever available to call for help. Three examples: two months ago I stopped by my local branch to deposit a check and I figured while I was there I would get a new debit card printed since mine was getting worn. I was told I had to call and make an appointment to get a debit card printed. Again I’ve been using this thing for almost 20 years and I’ve never had to make an appointment however I called the number that I was given to make an appointment about 15 times with no answer or reply. My debit card for some reason will periodically decline starting about six months ago even though I have money in my account. Even during normal business hours when I called I have to wait about 45 minutes before I can even get a hold of somebody to help and when I do get a hold of somebody and they are absolutely the worst customer service representatives I’ve ever spoken to. Last night my card started declining again. I work nights and I need to get to work and get gas. I have almost $50,000 in my checking account but I could not get access to it. There is no phone number on their app or website other than the local branch phone number that basically tells me I have to call during normal business hours in order to get help. This is absolutely ridiculous… It is my money that they have and I am being denied access to my own money and when I need help to access my own money I can’t get it or I am serviced very poorly. Absolutely ridiculous.
