October 13, 2017

Local victims report a total loss of more than $90,000.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 13, 2017 – Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado (BBB) has completed an investigation of a Southern Colorado company, ProTeam Roofing and Restoration Inc., which is a roofing contractor.

The company has an address of 6190 Lake Shore Court, Unit 120, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80915, and a phone number of 719-574-3535. The listed principal for ProTeam Roofing and Restoration Inc. is Robert Partlett and the CEO and owner is Chris Justice.

BBB warns that this is NOT an accredited business and the company currently has an F rating. On Sept. 28, 2017, this company’s accreditation with BBB was revoked by BBB’s Board of Directors due to unresolved and unanswered complaints. Consumers have reported losses totaling over $90,000 through the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado Dispute Resolution Process.

ProTeam Roofing and Restoration is a licensed roofing contractor in the Pikes Peak Region. Consumers report contracting ProTeam Roofing and Restoration for roof repair or replacement on their homes. In one case, the consumer stated signing a contract with the company to perform roofing and siding work. The consumer alleged being required to pay the full contract price of $17,000 before any work would be performed and further stated his deductible was waived by ProTeam Roofing and Restoration. Senate Bill 38 prohibits a roofing contractor from waiving a deductible.

BBB has processed and closed 12 complaints against ProTeam Roofing and Restoration in the past 36 months, 10 of which were processed and closed in the last 12 months. The majority of the complaints involved issues with products and service. As BBB does not publish complaints until they are closed, the 12 complaints may not be all-encompassing of the complaints received by BBB of Southern Colorado.

“BBB pro-actively identifies marketplace practices that are deceptive, misleading, unethical or should be called into question,” said Jonathan Liebert, CEO and executive director of Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado.

For consumers seeking services or products, BBB advises consumers to use BBB’s website or call its offices to find an accredited business that has a recordable history of providing a specific type of service or product.

“When a company fails to follow good business practices, we investigate them before informing the public. We hope this will help consumers be aware of substandard business practices, so they can take action to protect themselves,” Liebert said.

BBB offers the following tips when selecting a contractor:

  • BBB encourages you to confirm proper licensing and permit information with Pikes Peak Regional Building Department
  • Check the facts and get everything in writing. Make sure to thoroughly read through the contract and ensure you have a fully executed copy of the agreement for your records.
  • Be wary of upfront fees. Many complainants to BBB were or are scammed by companies charging advanced fees for services. Consider opting for a company that offers a different arrangement.
  • Don’t fall for high-pressure sales tactics or an offer that sounds too good to be true. Don’t agree to anything over the phone, but instead ask the salesperson to send you written materials.
