I was given a 1963 Plymouth Valiant, by my grandpa. I decided to have it restored as a tribute to him and my grandmother. On 9/I I took the car to “Vintage Autoworks” **** ****** ** ** ******** . on his website it says free inspection. The owner **** ******** said they could do a comprehensive inspection for 1500.00 . this was agreed on and we paid 1500. for a comprehensive inspection. on 9/9 he posted out car on his company fb page without asking 09/12 Monday **** called $12,000 total. We were ok with that. $6000.00 was needed to order parts. **** only had had written notes and was still typing up the actual written estima We Then took a cashiers check deposit of $6000 (at approx 1 pm) **** wrote a hand written receipt says for “parts deposit “ 09/141035 am said it needed a new motor. For an additional 4200.00 Myself and my wife went to his shop, where he got upset with us for asking questions he started yelling and told us to get the **** out of his shop. At this point we wanted to take the car,0 but he refused He texted later that day to let us know it was an additional 125.00 to get the car back. Fast forward to 9/19.. we had to go there with a tow truck and the Beaumont police for a civil assist so we could get the car. **** cannot supple any paperwork because he stated he deleted it" The bottom line he charged $7625 to remove the engine, transmission and such.. And loosely put the engine back in engine bay. Cannot supply any parts ordered, an invoice for said parts,( we paid restocking fee.. or written estimate as to what work was 45 hrs of billable hours. The car ran when we took it, mow engine is bolted in engine bay transmission, exhaust, hoses all in trunk so 7625.00 paid. 0 work. price changed less then 48 hrs after he told us total price. we decided not to continue. only work was inspection and engine, transmission removed and then not reinstalled
