The original charges ($390) that I paid early today, 8/10/2022, are from ****** ********** I had my ****** Highlander towed a few days ago: Sat, 8/6/2022. The person on the phone told me they would have a mechanic who works on hybrids there on Monday. I called Monday and the person who answered the phone said they didn't have a chance to look at it. I called Tuesday and they said they thought it was a low battery issue and they would call me back Wednesday. I arrived there today (Wed, 8/10/2022) around noon and was presented with a bill of $390 (for charging a battery and replacing a lost 10amp fuse). I challenged the charges and the owner would not budge on the price. I asked him why he started working on everything without calling me and telling me what it would cost first. He said, "I thought I talked to someone" and kind of stared out the window, not looking at me. And when I asked him why it cost so much he said "You wouldn't have been able to jump start the battery considering how low the voltage was on it." If I would have known I could have had it towed home and trickle charge it myself instead of paying almost $400. None of this seemed fair to me. I paid him so I could get my car back. Then I called *********************** and they gave me a quote for the cost of charging a battery for my car (which they have worked on before and know the model and engine specs), replacing a 10amp fuse, and replacing and installing the damaged battery terminal. They said it would be $105 in total for parts and labor. I can share the invoice from ****** and the emailed quote from the ****** dealership.
