Torch Award Scholarship

  
     

BBB serving San Diego, Orange & Imperial Counties conducts an annual scholarship program in conjunction with the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics. BBB offers cash scholarships to five high school junior and senior students who write outstanding essays on “The Importance of Ethics and Integrity in our Community.” 

*This scholarship opportunity is open to all high school juniors and seniors residing in San Diego & Imperial Counties. 

The five recipients of the BBB essay scholarships will be invited to our Torch Awards luncheon. Recipients must be available to attend the luncheon.

 

Submit your 400 word essay on: "The Importance of Ethics and Integrity in our Community."



Deadline to submit: Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. PT

THE PRIZE: Five CASH scholarships:  (1) $1,500 (2) $1,250 (3) $1,000 (4) $750 and (5) $500 

ELIGIBILITY: Students who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply for a 2017 BBB Torch Awards scholarship:

  • A member of the graduating class of 2018 or 2019;
  • Attends an accredited high school in San Diego, Orange or Imperial County;
  • Resides in San Diego, Orange or Imperial County.

RULES: Write an essay, 400 words maximum, about the importance of ethics and integrity in our community.  Discuss your viewpoints and give examples, as applicable.  You may want to discuss how marketplace ethics involves integrity and civility in our community.  An independent panel of judges will evaluate the essays using the following criteria: 

  • Inclusion of personal viewpoints and/or examples (5 points);
  • Relevance to the theme (5 points);
  • Readability and clarity (5 points);
  • Spelling and grammar (5 points).
