Three Ways to Stay Cool This Summer

June 20, 2017

Summer is here with a wave of heat! As the amount of daylight increases, some find themselves with time to spend. As you head to the beach this summer, remain mindful of the sun’s rays and explore your options to keeping cool - without being a homebody! Better Business Bureau serving San Diego, Orange and Imperial Counties has three tips to stay cool this summer:

  1. Planning a Vacation to Escape the Southern California sun? While visitors make their way into town, you may be on your way out. As you book your vacation to a shaded paradise, be wary of summer travel scams. Compare airfare and lodging prices, but book directly through the website or agency to better solidify your vacation plans. Protect yourself against discount hoaxes by searching accredited travel agencies with our search feature.

  2. Step Inside! In the right dosages, the sun is beneficial to your existence. Overexposure to harmful rays of the sun can leave you less than stoked this summer. Apply sunscreen, keep hydrated and head indoors for an equally thrilling summer activity. Take a journey through the history of a museum, or sit back in a dimly lit theatre for a play.

  3. Discover a Unique and Social Environment - Hidden around the corners of your local neighborhood are small business gems awaiting your finding. Be the first of your friends to uncover a diamond amongst stones with a one-of-a-kind shop or cafe. Elect an afternoon to engage with good company in an environment new to you. Not only will you expose a great hang-out spot, you’ll be supporting your small business community!

Founded by the County of San Diego, Cool Zones were established to provide a place for senior citizens and individuals with special needs to cool off throughout the community. Open to the public through the end of October, locate an SDG&E cool zone to evade the heat. If you happen to fall victim to a scam while planning your summer getaway, report it to BBB’s Scam Tracker.
