I've bought a lot of cars, and this was hands down the worst dealership experience I've had to date. In early 2023 I ordered a truck with ********* and ***** at Connell. The **** was $41,500. The truck was delivered in June of 2023. The day that I went to pick up my truck, I was informed that Connell would charge an Extra $2500, about 6% on top. I am well aware that markups go into the dealer's pockets, and to inform me on an order the day of delivery is absurd. I told them I would be back tomorrow and hoped they would do the right thing and scrap the upcharge. In the meantime I called every other ***** dealer in Orange County who ALL said they were not charging over sticker for those trucks, so Connell were the only ones brazen enough. I still gave Connell one last shot, speaking to ***** and ********* and making them aware that I wanted the truck I ordered but was not willing to pay over sticker, given I wasn't aware until the day of and could get a fair deal at any other local dealership. I urged them to do the right thing. Instead, they weren't interested in my business to an insulting degree.I felt ridiculous, I should've ordered my truck thru any other dealership and had a fair deal. Instead these people tried to rip me off at the last minute. Luckily, there was a nearly identical truck available at another local dealer no markup, so despite getting screwed it worked out, but I had wasted a lot of time and felt totally insulted. I work in financial services, I would NEVER sell someone anything at a 6% markup to all of my competition, that is just an awful and arrogant way of doing business. Connell completely burned me as a client, they sought short term gain over long term which is always a mistake. Once these other customers realize they were burned, they'll be furious too. I would've been happy to go back for service and refer friends and family, but now I'll be taking that business to a deserving establishment that has no interest in ripping me off.
