I received a phone call on my cell phone from a company called "Inland Empire Industrial Tool and Supply". The salesman said they were reaching out to businesses to try to gain more business in a competitive tool supply market. I did not provide him with any of my contact or credit card information. He already had my name, company name, and address, and asked if I would be interested in some free promotional items and free samples of various tools and supplies. I agreed and even expressed my concern whether this was a scam. He said they were also offering a 30 day free trial of a quality, American made, drill bit set, where I could test them out and return them if I was not satisfied. He said all I would have to do is call them to arrange for the return and they would provide a return shipping label. He valued the drill bit set at $489. The drill bits I received were cheaply made, imported, and similar quality could be purchased elsewhere for under $50. When I received the package in the mail with an invoice due in 30 days, I called to schedule the return. The company refused to provide a return shipping label. This was not the agreement. The shipping cost to return the drill bits would be more than their worth. They then told me to call another office, and the number they gave me was to a different tool company that has been permanently closed. This company is running a scam where they send free trial items and make it very difficult or impossible to return them, and then they claim that you have an open account balance.
