Date of Incident: October 5 Your Location: Leander, TX Type of Scam: Medicare benefits identity phishing phone call Phone Number Used: 5713230069 Description of the Incident: I received a phone call from a person who said he was a licensed agent calling about Medicare Part A and B benefits. He claimed that people with Medicare Plans A and B could receive extra benefits, which I have heard mentioned on TV and in the news. During the call, the individual asked for my ZIP code and date of birth. Shortly after I provided that information, the call was disconnected. When I tried to call the number back, it did not go through. This appears to be an attempted Medicare scam aimed at collecting personal information for fraudulent use. I am reporting this to help prevent misuse of my data and protect others from similar calls. Information Shared: ZIP code and date of birth only. No Medicare number, Social Security number, or financial information was shared.
